  • Love the Cubs here. Hamels has been great in his Career against eh Padres and at Petco. Hamels has gone 9-2 with a 2.45 ERA in 18 career starts against the Padres, including 5-1 with a 2.01 ERA in nine starts against them the at Petco. HE has the better team behind him that should give him plenty of run support off of Paddack. Paddack owns a 1-1 record with a 4.30 ERA in his last three starts. Gimme the Cubs here at great value

    My Pick: Chicago -108 50%

SignOnSanDiego.com: Padres literally walk off Cubs in 10th

The Padres are playing these final three weeks for pride and paychecks.

The Cubs are highly motivated, holding a slim lead over several pursuers in the National League wild card race.

Funny what can happen on the way to finishing a six-month, 162-game season.

Manuel Margot's bases-loaded walk gave the team sputtering to the end of what will almost certainly be its ninth straight losing season its second walk-off victory in three games, this one 9-8 Tuesday night at Petco Park.

With one out, Luis Urias grounded his third single of the game up the middle, moved to second on Austin Hedges' walk and third on a walk by Travis Jankowski.

Gaslamp Ball: Margot's walkoff walk lifts Padres over Cubs

It took more innings than it probably should have, but the Padres bounced back and picked up a 9-8 win against the Cubs on Tuesday night at Petco Park.

Luis Urias' infield single in the bottom of the tenth got the rally started, and from there the Pads secured the win without ever putting the ball in play. Austin Hedges walked. Travis Jankowski walked. Manuel Margot walked. Ballgame.

Andres Munoz gave up two bombs in a rare off-night in the eighth - one to Kris Bryant and one to Jason Heyward.
