I don't like the pitching matchup here today, they are similar and the Red Sox bullpen will be at work early. I just don't think the Blue Jays can take two in a row from Boston.

    My Pick: Boston -135 50%

  • I dont like Chacin as a reliable starter and there is no way you can trust the Red Sox bullpen. Their opffense has been at the top of the league this year but it can carry the load each and every night. -150 is insanly bad odds as this should be closer to a pick em game. With Toronto at home and some young guys getting valuable experience I gotta fade the Red Sox here

Over the Monster: Red Sox at Blue Jays Lineups: Mookie Betts gets the night off

The Red Sox are looking to get back into the win column on Wednesday, no longer for anything having to do with making the postseason but rather just to, well, feel good about themselves. Alex Cora seems to recognize that their postseason hopes are dead, as he's starting to give some days off to his best players. Xander Bogaerts was off the field on Tuesday, and for the second game in Toronto Mookie Betts gets the day off. In his place, Brock Holt will not only be playing right field but also leading off.

Boston.com: Toronto ends 7-game skid with 4-3 win over Red Sox

TORONTO (AP) -- Rowdy Tellez snapped the Toronto Blue Jays out of their longest losing streak of the season with another big home run against Boston.

Tellez hit a two-run homer, Cavan Biggio and Reese McGuire added solo shots and the Blue Jays snapped a seven-game slide with a 4-3 win over the Red Sox on Tuesday night.

Biggio walked twice and scored twice, and McGuire had two hits.

Mookie Betts homered for the Red Sox, who have lost four straight. Boston's three-year run atop the AL East ended with Monday's 5-0 home loss to the Yankees.

Over the Monster: Red Sox 3, Blue Jays 4: Playing out the string

In the grand scheme of this baseball season, it's tough to have a less important game than Tuesday's between the Red Sox and Blue Jays. Neither team is going to make the postseason, and there really weren't any awards implications. It was just a baseball game, which is likely enough for you if you're reading this. It was enough for me to watch, even though it is also, ya know, my job. Anyway, this is a long-winded way of saying that, at this point, the results are secondary. It's about watching baseball and individual performances.
