  • Id stay away from the dodgers here. Most will probably be hung over after celebrating clinching last night. Also Means is the best Orioles starter and best shot to steal a game. I wouldnt be surprised to see some of the Dodgers starters sit this game. Sprinkle a little on the Orioles here

Mike Scioscia's Tragic Illness: Orioles 7, Dodgers 3: The Hangover

Last night the Dodgers clinched the NL West. Tonight they played like it in a 7-2 loss to the Orioles.

    ----

I guess it shouldn't be that surprising, really. John Means has been quite good this year and limited the Dodgers to two runs over 6.1 innings. Both of those runs came in the 6th following an A.J. Pollock two-run shot.

They then managed to tack on only one more against the Orioles pen in the 9th on a Matt Beaty single to give them three runs, though it didn't mean much by then since they were still trailing by four.

Dodger Blue: Recap: Dodgers On Wrong Side Of MLB Record In Loss To Orioles

The Los Angeles Dodgers seemingly played through a carryover of celebrating their clinching of a seventh consecutive National League West title as they erased an early deficit but suffered a 7-3 loss to the Baltimore Orioles.

Since beginning their current streak of NL West titles in 2013, the Dodgers fell to 2-5 (including Game 1 of the 2018 NL Division Series) in the ensuing game after clinching the division.

Much of their trouble Wednesday night stemmed from a lack of baserunners. David Freese hit a single in the first inning but was stranded, and Austin Barnes was left on base after drawing a walk in the third.

Dodger Blue: Dodgers News: Walker Buehler Breaks Double-Digit Strikeout Record Set By Matt Harvey In NL West Clincher Against Orioles

Tuesday night was a special one for the Los Angeles Dodgers as they clinched their seventh straight National League West division title behind Walker Buehler's dominant performance against the Baltimore Orioles.

But Buehler made some personal history of his own as well. Per STATS LLC, the dominant effort gave him the most starts in a single season with double-digit strikeouts and no walks in MLB history by a pitcher 25 years old or younger during the Live-Ball Era (since 1920).

Buehler now has five such performances over his two full MLB seasons, which surpassed the record Matt Harvey set in 2013.

Think Blue: Dodgers Defeat Orioles in Series Opener, Secure 7th Straight NL West Title

While fans knew it would happen eventually, the Dodgers made a seventh consecutive division crown a reality on Thursday evening after defeating the Orioles 7-3 in Baltimore.

Corey Seager went 2-for-5 with two long balls, shouldering the bulk of the offensive workload for the Boys in Blue. Both homers came off old foe Ty Blach, who lasted just 2-1/3 innings in his fifth start of the year. The blasts were Seager's 15th and 16th of the season.

The series opener also saw rookie Gavin Lux bust out of a previous 1-for-15 slump.
