I wish I would have decided on this game earlier but I think I'm still in a safe zone. Wacha will do his average best as always and Gonzalez I'm amazed is still with the team but they don't have a deep bullpen to pick from.

    My Pick: St. Louis -154 & Under 13.5 50%

Great Value for the Cards here. Wacha hasnt been anythign special but he has the better team and far superior pitching staff to back him. Chi Chi has done the cha cha on the mound and hasnt dont any winning. He is 0-6 and has an ERA over 7.00. Cards roll in this one.

    My Pick: St. Louis -139

Denver Post: Nolan Arenado's longest career homer, Chi Chi Gonzalez's quality start pace Rockies to win over Cardinals in series opener

    0

Nolan Arenado got the heavy lifting done early Tuesday night, blasting a first-inning, two-run homer to the left field concourse that took a single, high hop and promptly exited the stadium.

Arenado's home run, the longest of his career at 482 feet, carried the Rockies to a 2-1 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals in the series opener. It also gave Colorado just its second win over its last 13 games in front of a largely pro-Cardinals crowd at Coors Field, where right-hander Chi Chi Gonzalez delivered his best outing of the season.

The Rockies had lost each of Gonzalez's first nine starts, a club record, but the lack of home offense didn't deter the right-hander from a win this time.

St. Louis Post-Dispatch: On the brink of schedule's final exam, Cardinals can elevate their lead vs. Colorado

A few managers and coaches through the years have checked when the Cardinals would go to Colorado and, fingers crossed, hope to find it in September, when rosters are bloated with pitching. Wish granted. For last time. As if one final farewell to the use of the 40-man roster as we know it, the Cardinals head to Coors Field with full access to as many players as they've promoted from the 40-man roster*.

    * Next year the Cardinals visit Coors in April, and even if they came in September new rules will limit rosters with what's essentially baseball's equivalent of the healthy scratch.

Viva El Birdos: Series Preview 9/10-12: Cardinals at Rockies

The 81-62 Cardinals are on the final stop of their second-to-last roadtrip of the regular season, as they are out in Colorado for a series with the Rockies. With their biggest lead in the National League Central this season, the Cardinals will look to make hay against a Rockies bunch that they have won 13 of 17 games against since 2017.

In Tuesday's opener, Chi Chi Gonzalez and Michael Wacha will take the mound. Gonzalez gave up five runs in 4 1/3 innings when he worked against the Cardinals a couple weeks ago in St.
