ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL over the Mets here. Gallen has proven to be a good young starter but the Mets are on a mission. Alonso has been white hot at the plate and is looking to crush the Rookie homerun record. Wheeler has been good as of late and should give the Mets quality innings in this one. Dbacks are dealing with too many injuries and too many missing peieces to get it done in this one. Mets ML

CBS: Mets Turn To Justin Wilson To Close Key Win Over Diamondbacks

NEW YORK (AP) -- Justin Wilson watched Mets first baseman Pete Alonso dive for Ketel Marte's line drive and thought maybe the game was over. Then Alonso smothered the ball, and nobody at Citi Field was sure what the Polar Bear would do next.

"Your mind goes a mile a minute in that situation," third baseman Todd Frazier said.

On days when closer Seth Lugo can't pitch, New York will take its saves any way it can.

Zack Wheeler pitched one-run ball over seven innings, Wilson navigated four difficult outs for his first save since April and the Mets beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 3-2 Tuesday night.

NY Post: Mets squeak by Diamondbacks as Wilmer Flores Ks to end game

Zack Wheeler did just fine with Wilson Ramos behind the plate.

Though Wheeler repeatedly faced danger early during Tuesday night's start, the right-hander managed to extend his strong stretch in the Mets' playoff push, allowing just one run for the third consecutive outing, while logging his most innings in a month during the 3-2 win over the Diamondbacks at Citi Field.

Wheeler (10-6) lasted seven innings -- his first time going more than six innings in six starts -- allowing seven hits and two walks, while striking out seven, on 104 pitches (68 strikes). Wheeler also lowered his ERA to 4.
