I just can not get behind either of these pitchers. Everything in this game screams over and we've seen both pitchers get lit up because they are gas cans. But you know how it goes, everything points ot the over so I'm sure this will end 5-2

    My Pick: Over 12

Boston is red-hot and they have the best home offense in the American League and facing a pitcher like Drew Smyly who allows nearly three-bombs per nine innings pitched must have Boston licking their lips here today. Porcello is no prize and has been up and down all season long but he will get enough offensive support to get the win.

    My Pick: Boston -155

The Good Phight: The pen is mightier: Phillies 5, Red Sox 2

One month ago, if I told you the Phillies would win both games at Fenway Park, you might have looked at me with skepticism. If I told you that the driving force behind the sweep would be the bullpen, you would have likely told me to shut my lying mouth. But it was indeed the relief corps that led the way as the Phillies prevailed 5-2 over the Red Sox on Wednesday night.

In July, the Phillies' bullpen was decimated by injuries, and most of the healthy relievers caused high levels of angst every time they were called upon.

Over the Monster: Red Sox 2, Phillies 3: Aaron Nola shuts 'em down

Well, the win streak was never going to last forever, and in fact it ended at five games. Heading into this series that put Brian Johnson up against Aaron Nola, things were bleak before the first pitch was even thrown. Then, the first pitch was thrown, and then a few more and eventually the Phillies had a 3-0 lead before Nola even had to throw a pitch. As it turns out, that would be enough. The good news is Boston's bullpen had a great day, and the Phillies didn't score again after that first inning.

In the opener of a two-game interleague series, three of the first four Philadelphia batters reached base, including back-to-back doubles by Bryce Harper and Jean Segura. Boston made it 3-2 on Jackie Bradley Jr.'s homer in the third but managed just four more hits the rest of the game.

Nola (12-3) allowed two runs and one walk while striking out seven.

The Joy of Sox: G128: Phillies 3, Red Sox 2

The Red Sox were unable to match their longest winning streak of the season with a victory on Tuesday night. After winning five straight, Boston saw its bats go cold, unable to come back from an early three-run deficit. The Red Sox had a runner on second base and no one out three times in the final five innings - and came up empty each time.

Brian Johnson (3.2-6-3-2-4, 67) stumbled immediately out of the gate. He walked Rhys Hoskins to begin the evening and, after getting J.T. Realmuto on a popup to second, was hit for back-to-back doubles by Bryce Harper and Jean Segura.
