I guess what comes up must come down and for as hot as the Mets were playing for a while there, that star has fallen and reality, injury and maybe a little fatigue has set in. Braves win here and finish out this series.

The Mets have really cooled off since surging towards the playoffs, losing three straight. Losing Jeff McNeil really hurts this team as he was the spark that got everything going. This isnt a good spot for them either as the Braves have been super successful in the head-to-head series this year. Since the start of July Teheran has really been key for the Braves as he is has made seven starts and has worked at least 5.0 innings in all of them while allowing no more than three runs. In six of the seven he has logged at least 5.2 innings and surrendered two runs or fewer. New York is 1-5 in its last six at Atlanta. The Braves are 4-1 in the last five meetings between the two teams. Those trends should continue here

    My Pick: Atlanta -125

    Atlanta Braves
(66% consensus). Ender Inciarte struggled through the seasons first six weeks and then missed two months with a back injury, but the Atlanta Braves center fielder continues providing a spark entering Thursdays home series finale against the New York Mets. Inciarte, whose role has increased during Nick Markakis absence, went 2-for-3 with two RBIs in Wednesdays 6-4 victory to raise his average to .328 with 15 runs scored in 18 games since Markakis fractured his wrist... http://bit.ly/2J0z4vK

Talking Chop: Braves, Teheran battered as Mets win 10-8

    MLB

The Mets made it abundantly clear from the first inning that they had no intention of being swept in Atlanta this week, taking the series finale 10-8 in a game that got very interesting late. Julio Teheran started for the Braves, but retired just four batters before being lifted. This was shaping up as one of the least entertaining Braves games in some time before the club somehow brought the tying run to the plate in the ninth inning. The pitching staff was much less inspiring, as the Mets collected 23 hits en route to a victory.

Talking Chop: Braves somehow survive more late-inning adventures, beat Mets 6-4

    MLB

If you like absolutely insane baseball games after hour-long rain delays where the Braves ultimately come up victorious, but not before taking years off your life -- well, I've got the game for you. The Braves prevailed 6-4, but the late innings were filled with nothing but drama: they fell behind on a two-run bloop single, took the lead on a deluge of bloops of their own, and then nearly threw it all away on what might be the context-adjusted worst defensive play of the year by Johan Camargo. In the end, Jerry Blevins came on with the bases loaded and two outs and struck out Michael Conforto on three pitches to preserve the game and deliver unto Atlanta its 72nd victory of 2019.

Yahoo! Sports: Braves jump on Seth Lugo for 5 runs in 7th, beat Mets 6-4

ATLANTA (AP) -- The Atlanta Braves survived another near-meltdown by the back end of their bullpen in the ninth after the New York Mets' best reliever gave up five runs in the seventh.

Tyler Flowers drove in a tiebreaking run with an infield hit, and Atlanta scored five runs off Seth Lugo in the seventh and survived a ninth-inning scare in a 6-4 win over New York on Wednesday night.

The first-place Braves (72-50) are 22 games over .500 for the first time since 2013. That made manager Brian Snitker happy with the win ''no matter how you get it.

Braves Journal: Mickey Makes Mets Matz-less, Muff Match: Braves 6, Mets 4

I participate in a local home run pool. At the start of the season, for an entry fee of $160, one selects eight players who hit 18 or more homers in the previous season, with the proviso that their total 2018 homers sum to less than 210. In each month, your top 6 count and the pool returns $750 to the winner. The top 6 for the season returns the rest of the entry fees to the top 4 finishers to make the whole thing balance.

Having participated in this pool for years, it is astonishing to me how hard it is to win a month.
