If this starts to go south early for the young Lockett and it has a real chance to, he won't be at work long today. The Phillies needed to run into the Mets to try and right this ship cause they were veering way off course. Arrieta should get above 500 today.

    My Pick: Philadelphia -153

I don't know what's up with these totals today! I like the Phillies and Arrieta pitched really well against sherzer and the nats in his last outing. I think he will find a way to avoid damage to this over rated mets team. I like Alonso ovbiously, but I don't fear any one else in this line up at the moment. Lockett got called up and lit up, but he can bounce back and I don't think he will be a gas can this total is indicating. I think it's time to take advantage of some of these over reacitons on the totals because a 7-3 game is still a lot of runs, but not enought to clear the over and I woudn't be shocked if this game finishes 5-2 or something like that

    My Pick: Under 10.5 50%

Locking in the Phillies here before this line takes off. This is a big series for both teams but more so for the Phillies. They made a bunch of off season moves and need something to show for it. While they have experienced a slump as of late I think this is the perfect series to turn things around. They slugged their way into a win in game one and have a young inexperienced pitcher on the mound in this one. I dont expect Lockett to last long, and the Mets have a weak bullpen that holds a poor 5.23 ERA. Look for the Phillies to get a solid win here

    My Pick: Philadelphia -151 80%

Lockett didn't fare well in his Mets debut when he starting in place of injured Noah Syndergaard, Lockett allowed six earned runs in just 2 1/3 innings against the Cubs. He'll get an opportunity to redeem himself against the Phillies but has his work cut out for him against Arrieta who put together back-to-back quality starts for the first time since late May, but he is 3-5 with a 4.95 ERA in his last 11 starts. I really like Arrieta in this spot and at -142 odds, I'll put 1/2 my money on the RL and 1/2 my money on the ML and average down. I like Philly to smash the Mets in this game.

    My Pick: Philadelphia -142

(73% consensus). The Philadelphia Phillies mustered all of 15 runs during their season-high seven-game losing streak before igniting their dormant offense against the visiting New York Mets. The Good Phight: I went to a Joe West Show and a baseball game broke out: Phillies 7, Mets 5

    Well, well, well....

Looks like those superstitions worked out after all.

Look, a lot of people are going to talk about the Phillies and their beloved bamboo plant. About Maikel Franco and his awakening these last two games, spraying the ball all over the place with reckless abandon. About Brad Miller and his pinch hit home run and how the power to hit said home run was derived from a plant, much like Popeye. About Rhys Hoskins continuing to show that he's hot right now and that he might be ready to carry this team for a bit.

The Good Phight: Hugs: Phillies 13, Mets 7

The nice thing about having an end-of-season collapse closer to the beginning of the season is that when the inevitable resurgence happens, there's still time for it to mean something. The "bats wake up" game was going to happen, though the longer the Phillies seven-game losing streak continued, the harder it was to envision. But on Monday night, the Phillies reminded us what it looks like when their lineup thunders through an ineffective opposing starter, this time the Mets' Steven Matz.

Plenty of sarcastic comments were fired off in the top of the first after the Mets built their 2-0 lead off Zach Eflin.

The Good Phight: When the Phillies play the Mets, sometimes, there is no winner

The Phillies and Mets will collide this week; not as two roaring titans of the NL East on an inevitable path toward each other dictated by fate itself, but as bumbling fools, each with a bucket on their head, each hoping the other can get it off for them.

There's been plenty said about the Phillies and Mets as a pair over the last decade, from the fact that their fans share much of the same of insecurities and habits, to the idea that they've so rarely been good at the same time that their match-ups don't even constitute a rivalry.
