  • These are not the starters for this game***** It is Arrieta and Corbin*****Arrieta is 1-2 with a 5.07 ERA in 14 career starts against Washington. He has lasted just 71 innings in those starts. I like the Nats on the F5 bet in this one. The Nats Bullpen has been much better since hiring on Paul Menhart. These guys have split evenly W/L this season at 4 a piece.

    My Pick: Washington -154

The day off really doesnt change anything for me. I still like the Nats to win this game. Jake Arrieta has struggled of late and he doesnt have great numbers against the Nationals in his career. He has pitched well in this park, but the Washington offense is starting to heat and that could be trouble for him. Patrick Corbin has also struggled of late, but he has good career numbers against the Phillies. All match up are pointing in the Nats direction for me in this one

    My Pick: Washington -111 60%

The Good Phight: Game Thread 6/18: Phillies at Nationals

Zach Eflin and his 2.81 ERA are the closest thing the Phillies have to a stopper at this point, so putting him up against Erick Fedde is probably also the closest thing the Phillies have to a projected win in this series. Fedde hasn't had a lot of luck as a starter this year, making five starts and giving up 11 ER, 10 BB, and 25 H in 26 IP.

    Get 'im, Scott Kingery!

Fansided: Phillies will need a leader in upcoming series vs Nationals

The Phillies are currently 2.5 games back of the Atlanta Braves for first place in the NL East after losing two of three over the weekend. The gap between teams was evident with how Philadelphia performed during the series.

Now the team will be heading to Washington to face the Nationals in one of the most critical series they have had all year. With the team at a turning point on which way they are going to go, they will have to prove that they are good enough to contend in the division. In what has become a two-team race for the NL East, the Phillies will need to close the margin with plenty of baseball still left.
