Pinstripe Alley: New York Yankees vs. Chicago White Sox: Chad Green vs. Reynaldo Lopez

    MLB

The Yankees have fallen on hard times in the Windy City, dropping the first two games of a four-game set in both close and blowout fashions. The starting pitching has faltered at times, and hasn't been great in either game against the White Sox, so now the bullpen will get a shot to save the day.

Chad Green will make his fifth start for the Bombers, coming off of his most successful run as an opener against Cleveland on June 9. Aaron Boone entrusted Green to go two full innings in that outing, and given the wear and tear on the pitching department a repeat performance would be especially valuable.

CBS: White Sox Crush Sabathia, Yankees As Starting Rotation Continues To Implode

    MLB

CHICAGO (CBSNewYork/AP) -- The idea that the Yankees will pursue a starting pitching at the trade deadline has gone from a possibility to a necessity.

New York's injury-riddled and underwhelming staff has now gone a full trip through the rotation, with each starter posting one miserable outing after the other. The latest starter to hit rock bottom - CC Sabathia.

Lucas Giolito pitched into the seventh for his ninth straight win, Eloy Jimenez hit two three-run homers and the Chicago White Sox pounded the New York Yankees 10-2 on Friday night.

Giolito (10-1) gave up a solo homer to Luke Voit in the first, then shut down New York to win his eighth consecutive start.
