  • Pittsburg has looked pitiful. It's not the bats though it's the bullpen is not holding up their end of the bargain. Miami is still sending the ball out of the park at an unbelievable rate but I think Pittsburg gets them today.

(54% consensus). While the Miami Marlins snapped their six-game losing streak with a win Wednesday against St. Louis, the Pittsburgh Pirates were unable to end theirs in Atlanta and carry a seven-game slide into the first of three contests at Miami on Friday. A 6-5 loss to the Braves on Thursday extended their streak to seven straight defeats - one shy of matching a season high - and left them 6-18 over the last 24 games... http://bit.ly/2Ge9NAq

CBS Miami: Marlins Scoreless In Loss To Pirates

MIAMI (CBSMiami/AP)- The Miami Marlins failed to cross home plate on Friday night, losing 11-0 to the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Steven Brault scattered eight hits over six innings, and the Pirates stopped a seven-game slide

Brault (3-1) was hit on his left leg by Starlin Castro's line drive in the first, but it didn't seem to affect him very much. The left-hander struck out six and walked none. He also went 2 for 2 at the plate.

Colin Moran drove in a career-high five runs with two singles and a homer and Bryan Reynolds had a career-best four hits for the Pirates, who got their first win since June 6 against Atlanta.

Fansided: Pittsburgh Pirates End Losing Streak At Seven By Blowing Out Miami

What is sure to be a riveting three-game series kicked off Friday night in Miami. Owning the worst winning percentage in the National League, the Miami Marlins welcomed the Pittsburgh Pirates and the third worst winning percentage in the NL to town. To boot, the Pirates entered the game losers of eight and row and just a 6-18 record in their last 24 games.

On Friday night, however, the Pirates finally got to have some fun. The Pirates picked up a much needed victory by blowing out the Marlins. With the 11-0 win, the Pirates are now 31-38 on the season.

Bucs Dugout: Game Thread: Can the Pirates find gold in Florida?

Heading into Miami for the third stop on their ten game road trip, the Pirates are still looking to secure their first victory of the trip, as they've slid into last place in the National League Central. They'll send left-hander Steven Brault (2-1, 5.05) to the mound at 7:10 p.m. Eastern against Miami right-hander Trevor Richards (3-6, 3.31)

Brault has pitched better lately, since injuries necessitated his return to the starting lineup. Owner of an 8.82 ERA after his sixth appearance of the year on May 12 in St. Louis, he's allowed just seven runs, for a 2.
