I like the Angels here as a value play. Ryan Yarbrough is opening for the Rays in this one, where he has a 5.56 ERA in two career games against the Angels. The Angels offense has been decent this year and better as of late. They also have Ohtani back which helps out in a big way. I believe they should be able to get to Yarbrough before facing that tough Tampa bullpen. The Rays have been somewhat below average on offense this year and they hit just .245 against lefties at home. That should allow Tyler Skaggs to limit them enough to get the win here. Take the Angels in this match up

My Pick: Los Angeles +125 70%

  • TBO Rays: Joey Knight's takeaways from Rays-Angels

Cool, quick-thinking gesture by the Rays brass to reward those who hung around through Thursday night's 36-minute delay. Moments after play resumed, fans were informed beer and soda would be buy-one, get-one-free until last call.

Seven months shy of his 40th birthday, Albert Pujols can still bring it. His fifth-inning home run to left u2015 off a Ryan Yarbrough breaking ball u2015 was his 12th of the season and 645th of his Hall of Fame career.

If Yarbrough's first-inning implosion seemed rare, well, it should have.

Halos Heaven: Series Preview: Angels @ Rays (Opening Time)

I asked Ashley MacLennan of DRays Bay to give us some insight on the Rays:

The Rays are headed into this weekend's 4-game series having gone 6-4 over their last 10, and dropping two of three to the A's in an home series to start the week. In fact, the location of the Trop is likely a boon to the Angels, as the Rays have and 18-16 record at home as opposed to their very strong 23-10 road numbers. The pitching rotation is up in the air right now, but I'd expect to see both Blake Snell and Charlie Morton used in this series, so.
