  • Texas bats are the difference here. Porcello has been pitching lights out for the Sox his last couple of outings but the Rangers are seeing softballs out there.

    My Pick: Texas +135

I really wanted to write up texas because they have been so hot and I just hate Rick Porcello. I only hate him because he's burned me so many times with either bets or he's killed my draftking teams and honestly, I can't think of the last time I used him or even bet on him but it's still something that sticks in my mind and I like to pick on him. The issue I have is Lynn isn't really pitching lights out himself and we have two great offenses lining up against a pitcher I don't like and a pitcher I have no confidence in. When I'm faced with a situation like this I take the over and hope that both pitchers get lit up or at least one of them does like we had yesterday where the Rangers were able to put up 9 by themselves by the fifth. I'm going to take the over

    My Pick: Over 9.5 70%

  • Texas enters this matchup as the hotter team as the Rangers are now five games above .500 and have won 7 out of their last 10 games. The Rangers offense has moved up to 2nd in the big leagues in runs per game. Texas is averaging a remarkable 5.6 runs in their last ten games and they are up against a struggling Rick Porcello in this one. The right-hander has conceded nine runs in his last two starts spanning 10.2 innings. Rangers starter Lance Lynn has been more consistent than Rick Porcello, and it's a bit of a head scratcher as to why Vegas has Boston as a -140 favorite here. Feels like a great spot to take Texas and the +130 money.

    My Pick: Texas +130 70%

this line confuses me as well. I'm going to tred lightly because I'm getting that same sense as the padres game last night where the line was moving in the wrong direction, or at least everyone and their dog thought so but vegas got it right Over 9.5 70%

Dallas Morning News: From nice surprise to legit contender: Series finale in Boston could be a step in the right direction for Rangers

    MLB

BOSTON -- At the outset of this mid-June series, which was admittedly more important to the wild card hopeful Rangers than the world champion Red Sox, manager Chris Woodward spoke of his team embracing big games and big expectations.

He spoke of a team that believed it was good and headed for greatness.

Now comes an opportunity to back that up.

The series finale on Thursday presents an opportunity for the Rangers to take the next small step on that path. The Rangers accomplished what they needed to in this series by winning the first two games of the four-game series.

Boston.com: Betts' bases-loaded walk gives Red Sox 4-3 win over Rangers

    MLB

BOSTON (AP) -- Mookie Betts drew a bases-loaded walk in the ninth inning, giving the Boston Red Sox a 4-3 win over the Texas Rangers on Wednesday.

Andrew Benintendi hit a triple and two doubles, driving in two runs for the Red Sox as they ended a three-game skid and avoided falling below .500 for the first time in more than a month.

Boston rallied against reliever Jesse Chavez (2-1) in the ninth after allowing the Rangers to tie it in the eighth on an unearned run.

Christian Vazquez, whose throwing error in the eighth put the tying run on third, led off the ninth with a ground-rule double to center.

The Joy of Sox: G69: Rangers at Red Sox, 4 PM

    Lance Lynn / Rick Porcello

Today's game will start three hours earlier than originally scheduled so Bruins fans can watch Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals (8 PM, in Boston).

ESPN's David Schoenfield writes that the Red Sox are

teetering again like a luxury cruise liner with a bad case of norovirus. Check out their past eight series ... They're 6-1 against the woeful Royals and Blue Jays, and 5-13 against the good teams [Rangers, Rays, Yankees, Cleveland, Astros]. They're now 10-20 on the season against teams currently .500 or better.

    AL East: MFY off.

Fansided: Red Sox vs Rangers: How to watch at the rescheduled time

Wednesday's game between the Boston Red Sox and Texas Rangers has been moved to accommodate another sporting event you may have heard about that will capture the city's attention tonight.

The Boston Bruins are hosting the St. Louis Blues at the TD Garden tonight for Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals. To allow Boston fans the opportunity to watch both of their beloved teams, the Red Sox have rescheduled their game to an afternoon start time. Now let's just hope to avoid extra innings. We want to wrap up a win before the puck drops!

Both a win and meeting the 8:00 p.

    Boston.com: 3 ejected in Rangers-Red Sox game

    MLB

BOSTON (AP) -- Both managers and Red Sox outfielder Andrew Benintendi were ejected from Texas' 9-5 win over Boston on Tuesday night.

Benintendi and Red Sox manager Alex Cora were tossed in the fifth inning by first base umpire Vic Carapazza, and Texas manager Chris Woodward was booted by plate umpire Angel Hernandez in the sixth.

Though he was banned by Carapazza, Benintendi was upset initially with Hernandez. He turned and shouted toward home plate after grounding out, and that's when Carapazza tossed him.

"I know that Angel didn't hear me," Benintendi said. "It stinks. We're out there trying to win a game.

Over the Monster: Red Sox 5, Rangers 9: Back to .500. Again.

    MLB

This was a dumb baseball game. That's all I have to say on the matter.

I really have to write about this game, huh? I'm going to be totally honest with everyone right now: I don't really want to! This was a dumb, boring, slog of a game and everyone would have been better off if it didn't happen. That said, it did have a little bit of excitement, particularly early, with Darwinzon Hernandez on the mound for his first major-league start. It was clear before the game even started that he probably wasn't ready for this role long-term, but he's also the top arm in the farm system so how could you not be excited, ya know?

ESPN.com: Real or Not? Taken down by Texas, Red Sox have lost their way again

    MLB

This is not something anyone expected to see on June 11:

After all, last year the Red Sox won 108 games, won the World Series and brought the entire team back. The Rangers finished 67-95. They were 41 games worse than the Red Sox in the win column and 340 runs worse than the Red Sox in run differential. Their big offseason moves were signing Lance Lynn and trading away Jurickson Profar. They signed 36-year-old veteran Hunter Pence to a minor league contract at the outset of spring training. The forecasts for the Rangers weren't particularly optimistic.

Dallas Morning News: Rangers come up with second straight win vs. Red Sox amidst chaotic umpire performance

    MLB

BOSTON - To the question of what could possibly rile up California Cool, positive-thinking Rangers manager Chris Woodward to the point where he would lose himself in the moment and earn an ejection, there is now an answer.

    Angel Hernandez.

While the Rangers and Red Sox were playing what was an ostensibly big series at Fenway Park for a mid-June Tuesday, Ariel Jurado pitched six solid innings, Hunter Pence hit the first inside-the-park home run of his career, Asdrubal Cabrera had a big two-out, two-run single and Ronald Guzman a two-run double in the Rangers 9-5 win that pushed the Rangers to a season-high six games above .
