These are two team that are headed in opposite directions. The Pirates have lost 4 out of their last 5 while the Braves have won four out of their last 5. The Pirates pitching staff is banged up and their bullpen has been used a lot recently while the Braves are starting to get guys healthy and the bullpen is starting to establish itself. Pittsburgh is 3-7 in their last 10 meetings against the Braves and 3-7 in their last 10 games on the road in Atlanta. The Braves have shown with their offense that they are never out of a game and for that I am going with them in this one.

    My Pick: Atlanta -145

(67% consensus). The Atlanta Braves enter Tuesdays home contest against the Pittsburgh Pirates after several players came through with big offensive performances in Mondays 13-7 victory, but nobody needed a boost more than Nick Markakis. The veteran right fielder, who entered the week hitting just .186 since May 7 with seven RBIs, finished 4-for-4 with a homer and four RBIs - including the 1,000th of his career - as Atlanta pulled into a tie with first-place Philadelphia in the National League East... http://bit.ly/2uBTOqK

Fansided: Atlanta Braves: 3 Takeaway's from Monday's bashing of Pirates and Scuffle

The bottom line, however, is the Atlanta Braves won 13-7.

And combined with the fact the Philadelphia Phillies lost, the Atlanta Braves are now tied for first place in the NL East.

Nick Markakis had a much needed big game on Monday with 4 hits and 4 RBI to pace the Braves on offense.

As for the rest, let's get to it.

    1. What was up with the scuffle?

Yes, Joe Musgrove hit Josh Donaldson with a fastball on the very first pitch of the at-bat. Was it intentional?

Fansided: 1st Inning Ump Show Highlights Pittsburgh Pirates Loss In Atlanta

Nothing good ever happens to the Pittsburgh Pirates when they travel to the city of Atlanta. Nothing. There was the Jerry Meals game in 2011. No one needs to talk about that awful, awful October night in 1992. And now, there is whatever the hell unfolded on Monday night.

Major League Baseball has a major problem with their umpires. This was on full display in the Pirates loss against the Atlanta Braves on Monday night. Following the 13-7 loss, the Pirate slide continues as they are now 6-15 in their last 21 games and 30-35 overall.
