The Seattle Times: Kyle Seager set to return to Mariners lineup Saturday in Oakland
OAKLAND, Calif. -- The helpless feeling of watching his teammates play without him will end for Kyle Seager Saturday afternoon at Oakland Coliseum.
It will feel like a baseball utopia to be back playing after being sidelined since spring training after tearing a tendon in his hand, which required surgery. Seager joined the Mariners in the Bay Area after a rehab stint with Class AAA Tacoma and participated in the early and regular workouts Friday. The Mariners will activate him from the 60-day injured list on Saturday morning, and he'll be in the starting lineup for the afternoon game.
U.S.S. Mariner: Game 53, Mariners at Athletics
Wade LeBlanc vs. Daniel Mengden, 7:07pm
After being swept by what most suspected was the division's weakest team, the M's head to Oakland. Oakland's been hot, but then, the M's have played them tough this year, and everyone's "hot" when they get to play Baltimore.
Marco Gonzales' spin rate seemed to be up when looking at the Gamefeed data from Baseball Savant, but it looks normal when you actually search for it the "normal" way... must've been measurement error that they correct later. In any event, Marco gave up his 10th unearned run, a fact I gawked at over in Baseball Prospectus' Notebook series, which you should check out ($).
Athletics Nation: Series #18: Athletics vs Mariners - Once More, With Feeling
The A's have played just four games against the Mariners this year, and have managed to lose all four. Each of those losses has been frustrating in their own little ways, as the A's have only been outscored by five runs in those four games, and each game felt winnable, save for some bad defense in a bad moment or a bullpen meltdown that has become surprisingly common. While the A's were the home team in two of the four games between them, but so far none of the games have been played at the coliseum, where the team has performed remarkably better than on the road.
