Something you need to do when picking games is make sure you know what the hell is going on. I hear people talking about DuRapau and that really shouldn't matter because he only pitches a few innings then Nick Kingham will take over. Kingham has horrilbe number against Lefties and while I wish Dahl was in the lineup, I still like this Rockies team. I love Jon Gray on the road and he has as much strike out upside as anyone which is great if he ever gets into a jam. I like the chances of the Rockies picking up momentum and I"m really happy to see them replace Hamspon with their top draft pick Brendan Rodgers. This game is basically set at a pick but I think the rockies hand it to the Pirates today and we see Gray have simular success that Marquez had yesterday. I'll take the Rockies

DuRapau has barely gotten his feet wet and has been touched. I am not necessarily a fan of Gray either who does throw hard and gets a lot of strike outs but he fades very quick but he should have enough to get past a Pirates team that is simply not hitting well at all.

    My Pick: Colorado -113 & Over 8

Gimme the Rockies here. It looks as if the wheels are starting to fall off for the Pirates. It isnt a surprise considering their poor statistics posted so far this season. Sure, theyve managed to reel off a few solid wins, but theyve also struggled more than their 24-21 record would suggest. They sit in the bottom-half of the league in nearly every meaningful batting statistic despite some major bright spots. Marquez was lights out on Tuesday, and while I dont think Gray can replicate that performance, I do believe hell be good enough against a Pirates lineup severely lacking in firepower to keep up in this series. Give me the Rockies to go two-up on Wednesday.

    My Pick: Colorado -120 60%

(60% consensus). Colorado center fielder Charlie Blackmon tries to continue being a catalyst in the lead-off spot when the Rockies visit the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday in the second contest of their three-game series. Blackmon is batting .343 in May after recording his sixth three-hit game of the season - highlighted by a two-run triple - in a 5-0 victory Tuesday that snapped Colorado's four-game losing streak...

Denver Post: Rockies put on overall good show in 9-3 victory against Pirates

PITTSBURGH -- The Rockies' 9-3 victory against the Pirates on Wednesday night at PNC Park was the kind of tantalizing performance that showed what the Rockies are capable of when they string all of the elements together.

Solid starting pitching? Check. Jon Gray allowed three runs on seven hits over seven innings. He stuck out seven and walked only one.

Power hitting? Yep. Daniel Murphy hit a three-run homer in the first inning, and Tony Wolters ripped a three-run shot into the right-field seats in the third.

    Timely hitting?

Fansided: Pittsburgh Pirates Blown Out By Colorado Rockies For Second Consecutive Night

It's no secret that one of the biggest stories of the first two months of the 2019 Pittsburgh Pirates season has been injuries. One of the areas that has been hit hardest by the injuries is the starting rotation. 20 different Pirate players have spent time on the injured list this season, and this includes four starting pitchers.

The only Pirate starter that has not hit the IL this season is Joe Musgrove. At the moment, both Jameson Taillon and Trevor Williams, the team's two best starting pitchers, find themselves on the IL.
