Marquez and the Rockies still have not figured out who they are and Pittsburgh has taking care of business so far in this series but, the Rockies will have their best chance at taking the last game.60%

I like the Rockies here on the Road. The Pirates are playing their first home game after an 11-game trip and teams in that position will struggle. The Rockies were just swept in Philly, but they played hard in each game and will not take on a Pittsburgh team that is just 3-7 in their last 10 home games. The Rockies will be sending out German Marquez, who has been far more effective away from Coors than at it in his career. This year he is 2-1 with a 2.50 ERA on the road and he has gone 2-0 with a 2.45 ERA in two career starts here at PNC Park. Chris Archer has pitched better at home this year than on the road, but he is still 2-3 with a 3.58 ERA in his career in this park and he is 1-3 with a 5.58 ERA overall this year. The Rockies have the edge on the mound, the offensive edge and the situation favors them as well. Take Colorado here

I really like this rockies team heading into today. Archer has not looked good at all this season and Marquez has looked great. The thing to understand about Marquez (and this shouldn't come as a surprise) is he's much better on the road. He has elite strike out stuff and his comand has been on his last couple of starts. Archer has horrible splits to left handed batters and the rockies have six good ones in their projected lineup now. I also think this total is a little low because I've seen archer get smacked around so many times to know he can give up 8 on his own. But my main play is going to be the rockies and I love this price, I would have guessed the rockies would be in the -180 range if I'm being honest60%

Marquez is solid but the Pirates is a hot-hitting team (despite being ranked 25th offensively) and I think the offense can make up for any Archer miscues and should give the Pirates bullpen enough of a lead that their eight blown saves this season cant mess up. Give me the plus money with Pittsburgh at home today.

Colorado Rockies (52% consensus). There's nothing like a 7-4 road trip to make a baseball team and its manager happy so the Pittsburgh Pirates are in good spirits as they open a six-game homestand with three against the slumping Colorado Rockies starting Tuesday. Pittsburgh split the first eight games of the trek before winning the final three in San Diego, and turns its attention to improving its 9-9 record at PNC Park... http://bit.ly/2GfVZFy

Bucs Dugout: Marquez dazzles, Archer fizzles in Pirates 5-0 loss to Rockies
Colorado's German Marquez scattered three hits and a walk over eight shutout innings as the Rockies downed the Pirates 5-0 at PNC Park in Pittsburgh.
For Chris Archer, it was more of the same. A lack of fastball command leading to 24 pitches in a scoreless first inning where he left two runners on base, then single runs in the second and third and two in the fourth. In the end, four runs in five innings that required 92 pitches to complete.
The first Colorado run came when Daniel Murphy lined a double off the right field wall and went to third on Ian Desmond's ground out.
Purple Row: Rockies 5, Pirates 0: German Marquez dominates as the Rockies get the win
The Colorado Rockies got an outstanding start from one of their starting pitchers and got their offense back on track enough to cruise to an easy win on Tuesday as they beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-0.
German Marquez dominates
Eight innings. Seven strikeouts and just three hits and a single walk. No runs. All on 104 pitches. He even got a hit, because of course he did.
Marquez was simply brilliant. He commanded his fastball and curveball to near perfection. It wasn't just that he was throwing strikes. Marquez was locating within the zone.
Bucs Dugout: Gate Thread: Colorado Rockies come to the 'burgh as the hot Pirates return home
A day after completing a successful 7-win, 4-loss western road trip, the Pittsburgh Pirates play host to the Colorado Rockies, who send right-hander German Marquez (4-2, 3.80 to the mound, opposed by the Pirates' Chris Archer (1-3, 5.58)
The Rockies, with a 20-25 record, have lost four games in a row.
Marquez, in his third full season with the Rockies, struck out 230 batters in 196 innings last year and so far this year has K'd 9.1 batters per 9 innings while walking only 1.7. He's throws a four-seam fastball that averages 95.5 mph along with a curve and slider.
Bucs Dugout: Series Preview: Rockies at Pirates
The Colorado Rockies come to PNC Park for a mid-week three-game series. The Rockies have dropped their last four games and are 4-6 in their last ten. They currently sit in fourth place in the NL West 9.5 games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Colorado is 11-14 on the road so far this season while the Pirates are 9-9 at home. Pittsburgh has a -39 run differential (6th worst in baseball) and the Rockies are at -9 (13th).Schedule
