Lauer got lit up in his last start but I'm going to give him a pass on that one. He was in coors and he has a pretty big curve that he likes to throw which never bodes well in colorado and the altitude. I remember that match up and I even said he was going to be in trouble that night because I've seen it to many times before. He's been pitching great this season and the Pirates really struggle against left handed pitching and the padres big ball park bodes well for him. At the same time WIlliams has allowed a lot of soft contact and while he doesn't strike batters out very often, he limits damage with his soft contact that he genrerates with his elite control. His issues is he gets smacked around by lefties and lucky for him, the padres don't really have any. I'm going to ride the under in what's going to be a very boring game on the offensive side of things and I'll take the padres to win the game as well.

Bucs Dugout: Series Preview: Pirates at Padres
Like the Pirates, the Padres have a winning record (22-21) despite having a negative run differential (-16). After jumping out of the gate hot, the Dads have cooled off as of late, losing their last three and 10 of their last 16.
The Pirates are entering the series 21-19, four games out of first place in the Central and a game behind the wild card pace.
