These two have split their last two games and the pitchers today are known for throwing strikeouts but also getting lose and letting teams put runs up. look for that over today and Sanchez to sneak in his first win of the season.

Sanchez is 0-6 with a 5.27 ERA this year for Washington but 5-5 with a 4.13 ERA in 14 career starts against the Mets. Sanchez has not lost to New York since 2011.
The Mets will start right-hander Zack Wheeler (3-2, 4.35), who is 4-9 with a 5.01 ERA in 15 career starts against the Nationals. He was 0-1, 10.24 in two starts last year against Washington and he once lost four games to them in a season in 2014.

Not a lot of difference between Wheeler and Sanchez here, but Mets are the better team here with the better bats, so makes sense they are -130 favs here today. I look for Washington to sneak out a victory in what will be a high-scoring affair, I like the OVER 9 here today.70%

Love the Mets here. Even though Wheeler has had his consistency issues, I like this match up. Zack Wheeler has been posting encouraging results on the mound recently, limiting the Brewers and Marlins to only a combined four runs in his last two starts spread across 14 innings, and he racked up 21 Ks in that span. The Nats have also surprisingly struggled at home this year going 7-12 at Nationals Park. To add to it the Nationals offensive production has been crippled significantly by the absence of Trea Turner and Ryan Zimmerman who both remain sidelined. Take the Mets to roll here

Washington Times: Parra lifts Nationals to win over Mets
Gerardo Parra hit a tiebreaking, two-run homer in the fifth and Sean Doolittle stopped the New York Mets' ninth-inning rally by striking out Keon Broxton with the bases loaded, giving the Washington Nationals a 7-6 win on Thursday.
Michael Conforto hit a tying, three-run homer in the third inning but left with a concussion in the fifth colliding with second baseman Robinson Cano's shoulder while chasing Howie Kendrick's popup down the right-field line. Rather than fly with the Mets to Miami, Conforto planned to take a train back to New York.
Mets left fielder Jeff McNeil left in the third because of abdominal tightness.

Gerardo Parra decided that D.C. needed a hero today and the veteran outfielder, who was added to the Washington Nationals' roster after he was DFA'd by the San Francisco Giants earlier this month, went 3 for 3 in the series finale with the New York Mets, driving in a run with an RBI double in the first, and hitting a go-ahead, two-run home run in the fifth after the visiting team had rallied to tie it. 7-6 final. It got close in the end...
Sanchez Injured: Anibal Sanchez threw 89 pitches in just 4 1/3 IP last time out before today, when he faced the Dodgers in LA, giving up six hits, two walks, and three earned runs in what ended up a 5-0 game.
