I like the A's here. Rodriguez was absolutely shelled in his last start against the As earlier this year and Oakland has actually performed well in this series as of late. While the As are just 19-45 in their last 64 meetings at Fenway Park, they have won seven of the last nine meetings overall in this series. Montas appears to be turning the corner this season and hes been an efficient strike-thrower, exceeding 95 pitches just once despite completing at least five innings in all five of his starts. The As crush left-handed pitching, so Ill take my chances with Oakland in their first game on the road at Fenway Park on Monday night.60%

I've said it before that some pitchers pitch the game and others manage the game and so far this year Montas is managing the games he's pitched and that along with the way Oakland is hitting he can win his 5th. I know they got chopped down by the Bluejays but Boston doesn't have the same type of pitchers.

Boston's woes are for real and it starts with the Starting Pitching. Teams are Slugging a combined .466 against the Sox with 43 Home Runs so far and these A's can mash. They're 7th in the league in HR's and the Sox lineup still can't come together and look complete like last season. Montas has looked great against stellar competition this year.70%

Montas has been pitching great this year and I still have mixed feelings about Rodriguez. He's had two great starts but this guy is as streaky as they come and I think he's due for another wild game where he can't find the strike zone. The A's are a patient team behind the plate and have 7 guys with walk rates over 10% and four guys that smash left handed pitchers. If Rodriguez gives up a few free passes the red sox are in trouble because the green monster will come into play and we will see balls bouncing off it today which won't lead to good things. I like the over team total for the A's as well as the +1.5 at -158 but I'll sprinkle in some ML as well at +126

Athletics Nation: Game #31 Thread: Athletics at Red Sox
One team will be vindicated this evening in Fenway park and the odds on favorites are the A's according to the Vegas odds! Both Oakland and Boston were swept this weekend and are seeking to change their status with this game. While the A's were clearly headed for victory in the 11th inning last night against the Blue Jays, Blake Treinen gave up a three-run lead in the 11th that eventually led to the sweep. The Athletics were poised and a rare mishap from Treinen derailed this. Not so for Boston whose lacking offense left them hanging out to dry against the Rays on Sunday to complete their weekend of being swept.
Over the Monster: Game 29 Gamethread: Red Sox vs. Athletics
The Red Sox are coming off a tough weekend in which they got swept in a rain-shortened two-game series against the Rays. Now, the Athletics come to town as a team that has had Boston's numbers the last few years. Fortunately, Eduardo Rodriguez has looked good of late, though this will be a big test for him. On the other end, the A's send old friend Frankie Montas to the mound. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 PM ET and this will be your space to discuss the action.
San Jose Mercury News: Athletics working with 2-man bench in Boston after Canha injury
BOSTON - With Mark Canha hitting the injured list on Monday due to a nagging right wrist sprain, Athletics manager Bob Melvin will be forced to work the series at Fenway Park with a short bench.
While Lou Trivino continues to work his way back from a thumb injury, the Oakland manager opted to recall left-handed reliever Ryan Buchter to replace Canha on the roster.
"We do have a two-man bench, and one of them is a catcher," Melvin explained prior to the start of a three-game series versus the defending World Series champions. "So, it makes it a little bit of a challenge.
Fansided: Red Sox lefty Eduardo Rodriguez faces steep challenge against Oakland A's
Eduardo Rodriguez has put a rough patch to open the 2019 campaign behind him with a few solid outings. He's coming off his best start of the season when he held the Detroit Tigers to one run over six innings. Now he'll face the challenge of avenging his worst loss of the year.
Rodriguez is 2-0 with a 3.00 ERA over his last three starts. The improvement may partially be credited to experimenting with a revamped slider that he learned from Dustin Pedroia, although there's a simpler explanation. Rodriguez has recovered from a rocky start to become the pitcher many projected to have a breakout year.
The Joy of Sox: G29: Athletics at Red Sox, 7 PM
Frankie Montas / Eduardo Rodriguez
Matt Collins, Over The Monster:
Early in the year, Eduardo Rodriguez was all kinds of frustrating ... He was inefficient, he was falling in love with specific pitches and refusing to mix it up, and he was just plain not attacking. Lately, though, he's turned it around and is improbably the starting pitcher in which I have the most confidence right now. That is bound to end poorly for me, but I'm riding this high as long as I can. Over his last three starts, Rodriguez has pitched to a 3.
Over the Monster: Red Sox vs. Athletics Series Preview
The Athletics haven't been on the same scale as the Red Sox, but they've been a bit disappointing this year as they've struggled to beat good teams and to win games on the road.
Red Sox 1, Athletics 3
Down. It's been a rough stretch for the Athletics, who are fresh off being swept on the road against the Blue Jays. They did sweep the Rangers immediately before that, but immediately before that they were swept by...the Blue Jays again! Overall, Oakland has lost eight of their last twelve.
