BETTING PREVIEW & PICKS:
Miami Heat 29-12 (23-16-2 ATS) are playing San Antonio Spurs 17-23 (15-24-1 ATS) on Jan 19, 2020, 3:05pm ET at AT&T Center. The Spurs opened at +1.5 in Vegas and the current line is SAN +1.
It’s an inter-conference showdown in the Lone Star State as the Miami Heat are on the road to face the San Antonio Spurs Sunday afternoon. Miami knocked off a surging Oklahoma City team 115-108 on the road Friday night in their last game. San Antonio was stunned 121-120 at home by Atlanta in their previous contest Friday night. The Spurs lead the all-time regular season series between the teams 43-21 but the Heat have taken the last three meetings. That includes a 106-100 home win in the first meeting this season, which came Wednesday night.
The Heat earned their second win in a row as they took down Oklahoma City on the road Friday night. In the Eastern Conference playoff picture, Miami is second, seven games behind the Bucks for the top spot. They enter this one 12th in the league in scoring offense with 111.6 points per game this season. Miami is 16th in the league in rebounding with 45.5 boards a contest while the team stands 11th in assists by dishing out 25.2 dimes a night. They stand 11th in the league in scoring defense as they allow 107.8 points per game. Miami is tied for 3rd in the league in field goal percentage as they shoot 47.2 percent from the floor this season. This team struggles on the road when comparing to their home split as they are 11-11. We will see if they can continue to reverse that trend
San Antonio lost for the third time in four games as they blew a fourth-quarter lead to the Hawks at home Friday night. In the Western Conference playoff picture, San Antonio is ninth, two games behind the Grizzlies for the final playoff spot. San Antonio is 26th in the league in scoring defense as they allow 114.9 points a game. This team is tied for 3rd in the league by shooting 47.2 percent from the field. San Antonio is 28th in three-point field goals per game with 10.2 per contest. The Spurs are 7th in the league by knocking down 36.5 percent of their long-range attempts. It will be interesting to see what this team does at the deadline as they are on the cusp of the playoffs.
Despite the Heat struggling on the road I think this is another good spot for them to get a win and the spread is perfect for that. The Spurs lack an identity and are inconsistent to say the least. Give me the better and deeper team to get the win here and sweep the season series. Heat ML
Miami is 14-9 ATS & outscore opponents by an avg of 6 on one day of rest Spurs are 11-16 ATS & get outscored by an avg of 3 on one day of rest Miami is 10-5 ATS on one day of rest playing against an opponent on one day of rest compared to SA's 8-11
Miami outscore opponents by an avg of 8 as a < 10pt fav. SA gets outscored by an avg of 5 as a < 10 pt underdog
This is a ML game, Miami obviously is the more balanced & deeper team of the two, having a great bench production in Dragic & Herro. Spurs won against the Bucks & Celtics but lost against the Hawks, I don't want nothing to do with such inconsistency.
