Canis Hoopus: Wolves 112, Grizzlies 99: A Rare Road Win
I know many fans would argue that the Wolves would have been better off losing this game to the Memphis Grizzlies for draft position, but obviously that is not the way the players approach things. Instead, the Wolves won on the road for the first time in a month, snapping a nine game road losing streak with a 112-99 win over a similarly depleted Grizzlies squad.
It was close if not exciting in the first half, with the neither team shooting particularly well, but the Grizzlies feasting on the offensive glass. Jonas Valanciunas and Ivan Rabb especially seemed to be everywhere on the offensive boards for the Grizzlies, who took a one point lead into halftime.
Official Site of the Grizzlies: Postgame Report: Timberwolves Thrive in the Third Quarter to Top Grizzlies, 112-99
The Minnesota Timberwolves outscored the Memphis Grizzlies 35-18 in the third quarter as they went on to win, 112-99, on Saturday night in FedExForum. The Grizzlies dropped to 29-44 on the season and 19-18 at home, snapping a four-game winning streak at home. The Timberwolves improved to 33-40 on the year and are now 10-29 on the road.
The third quarter proved to be the difference-maker in the game. Memphis couldn't manufacture much offense coming out of halftime, missing nine of their first 11 shots while Minnesota opened the third quarter with a 19-4 run. The Timberwolves went on to shoot a sterling 13-for-19 (4-9 3P) from the floor in the period, while Memphis only managed to make 1-of-9 (.

We're long past the point of the season where these regular season games have much meaning for our beloved Timberwolves, and the same can be said for the Memphis Grizzlies.
While the Wolves aren't straight up "tanking" they are holding a long list of rotation players out for the rest of the season. Jeff Teague, Derrick Rose, Robert Covington, and Luol Deng are all out for the season.
This will allow Minnesota to get a longer look at intriguing prospects like Keita Bates-Diop and Cam Reynolds.

Memphis Grizzlies (63% consensus). The Minnesota Timberwolves have been eliminated from the Western Conference playoff race thanks to a five-game losing streak it carries into Saturday's contest against the host Memphis Grizzlies. An inability to win on the road is part of the issue as the Timberwolves are just 9-29 after dropping their last nine such games... http://bit.ly/2iIdNLB
Fansided: Minnesota Timberwolves: What to watch for vs. Memphis Grizzlies
Only 10 games to play, and nothing to work towards.
The Minnesota Timberwolves have been officially eliminated from playoff contention, and that means that they only have a couple of things to play for: interim head coach Ryan Saunders is auditioning for a job and Karl-Anthony Towns is playing to get onto the All-NBA team and make a few million dollars more per year.
There are, of course, other evaluations to be made. Is it worth extending Dario Saric's contract yet, or should the Wolves wait another year? Should Tyus Jones get the qualifying offer this summer as a restricted free agent, and/or could he possibly be the team's starting point guard of the future?

Wolves update: The Wolves' winding road on the road is coming to an end. They have just three games away from Target Center remaining, and that's a good thing if they want to get some wins. The Wolves have lost 13 of their past 14 on the road, with the lone win coming against the Knicks in Madison Square Garden. The Wolves' defensive rating on the road this season, 116.3 points per 100 possessions, is 9.3 points more than their defensive rating at home. The Wolves' 117.5 defensive rating since the All-Star break is the worst in the league.
