This line is a bit of a head scratcher. Yes, Newcomb has been used sparingly in a reliever role lately, and Nola has some strong numbers in his career against Atlanta and is 6-1 on the year. The Braves are riding an eight game winning streak, and if we are being honest, I dont think Nola has pitched as well as his record would indicate. Nola has allowed nine runs in his last two starts spanning 12 innings of work, and while he may stifle the Braves again, I cant pass on Atlanta at this price today. I like Atlanta with Newcomb at home to win a low scoring game.50%

Braves Journal: Atlanta 9, Philadelphia 8
It was a week of firsts in the sports world. The St Louis Blues won their first chance for their player's kids to Pee In The Most Sacred Trophy In Sports this summer. The Toronto Raptors stuck enough pins into their Warriors voodoo dolls to take The Least Sacred Trophy In Sports back to Canada for the first time, where 93% of Canadians will wonder why the Raptor's kids don't get to pee in it. And, most importantly, the Braves and the Phillies matched up for the first of 16 games that will most likely decide who will win the NL East this year.
Phillies Nation: Phillies need to develop impact prospects to keep up with the Braves
Something that should be becoming quite clear to Phillies fans is that the division-rival and defending NL East Division champion Atlanta Braves are not going away anytime soon.
And unlike the Phillies, who opened John Middleton's deep pockets to bolster their lineup this past off-season, it's not their wallet that built their ball club. Instead, a deep and plentiful Braves farm system continues to produce top talent.
While the Phillies will have Bryce Harper for the next dozen years and will have strong players such as Rhys Hoskins, Aaron Nola, and Zach Eflin under control for the next handful of seasons, they are going to need young, inexpensive talent to help them compete with Atlanta over the coming decade of the 2020's.
Talking Chop: Braves News: Win streak at 7 as Phillies arrive for showdown in Atlanta
Atlanta Braves News
The Atlanta Braves finished off a four-game sweep of the Pirates on Thursday with a 6-5 win at SunTrust Park. The Braves have now won seven straight and have opened a 1.5 game lead over the Phillies who will arrive for a three-game set on Friday.
The Road to Atlanta crew is back with a discussion of the Braves' organizational All-Stars for the 2019 season.
The Philadelphia Phillies picked up infielder Brad Miller in a trade with the New York Yankees on Thursday in exchange for cash considerations.
Yahoo! Sports: Braves rally in 9th to beat Phillies for 8th straight win
Brian McCann's two-run single with two outs in the ninth inning gave him 1,000 RBI for his career and completed a three-run rally to lift the Atlanta Braves to a 9-8 win over the visiting Philadelphia Phillies on Friday.
The Braves trailed 8-6 entering the ninth inning against Philadelphia closer Hector Neris (1-3). He allowed a leadoff single to Dansby Swanson and walked Nick Markakis with two outs. Rookie Austin Riley knocked in the first run with a double to left field.
McCann worked the count to 2-2 and went down to get a splitter from Neris.
CBS Philly: Phillies Blow 5-Run Lead In Disastrous 9-8 Loss To Braves
ATLANTA (AP) -- Brian McCann capped Atlanta's three-run ninth inning with a two-run single off Hector Neris, and the Braves beat the Philadelphia Phillies 9-8 on Friday night for their eighth straight win.
Atlanta improved to 23-9 since May 10 and opened a 2 1/2-game lead over Philadelphia in the NL East. It was the first game between the division rivals since the Phillies swept three games from the Braves in late March.
Neris (1-3) was 15 for 15 in save chances this year, but couldn't find the formula on his 30th birthday. Philadelphia has dropped four of five.
Phillies Nation: Braves chop down Phillies with dramatic 9th inning rally to take series opener
The Atlanta Braves (41-29) showed a ton of heart, taking the opening game of a key road series by a 9-8 score on Friday night over the visiting Philadelphia Phillies (38-31) at SunTrust Park.
The Phillies led almost the entire night, and appeared to be on their way to an exhilarating victory. But the Braves never surrendered, battling back every time the Phillies tried to open their lead wider.
In the end, it came down to Atlanta having to overcome a two-run deficit with the Phillies closer on the mound in the bottom of the 9th inning.
