  • Sox have lost Nova's last 5 starts. Yankee's have been in a mini-slump offensively but I think they get to Nova tonight and break out of their mini hitting slump. Yankees win 8-4 type of game, Yankees -1.5 (-125).

    My Pick: New York -185

(67% consensus). The New York Yankees still hold a half-game lead atop the American League East over the Tampa Bay Rays, but are not playing their best baseball of late. The Yankees will try to get right on the road when they visit the Chicago White Sox on Thursday in the opener of a four-game series...

Pinstripe Alley: New York Yankees vs. Chicago White Sox: J.A. Happ vs. Ivan Nova

The New York Yankees head back on the road, this time to the South Side of Chicago, as they open a four-game set with the White Sox.

J.A. Happ (6-3, 4.48 ERA, 5.19 FIP) gets the ball for the Yankees. He has been the model of inconsistency this season, not making it out of the fifth inning in four of his thirteen starts this season, but on three occasions giving seven strong innings. That includes his last outing against the Toronto Blue Jays, where he gave up 1 run on 4 hits in 7 innings of work.

South Side Sox: Gamethread: Yankees at White Sox

After splitting a two-game set with the Washington Nationals and a Wednesday off, the Chicago White Sox plow ahead into four games with the New York Yankees.

The Yanks, at 41-25 ... are good. But remember, the Sox took two out of three games earlier this year at Yankee Stadium.

I'm happy to be making my SSS debut on this Free T-Shirt Thursday, where we hopefully see the South Siders ... tee off ... on Yankees lefty J.A. Happ.

Now that you're finished groaning at the first of many bad puns I will make in my sportswriting career, let's take a closer look at Happ: The last time the White Sox faced Happ was April 12, where he gave up six earned runs off nine hits in four innings.

NY Post: Yankees vs. White Sox: J.A. Happ will stop the White Sox

Climbing Mount Everest with dad this weekend? Why not? Unprecedented amounts of people willing to risk their lives to reach the summit have turned the mountain into a crowded subway train. Numbers experts say if the current trends continue, in two years there will be more people on Everest than there are in Mexico. Starbucks, sensing the demand, wants to open five new strategically spaced outlets along the route.

The Yankees visit the South Side of Chicago after splitting their doubleheader with the Mets. J.A. Happ has pitched well, but has a tendency to give up the long ball.

Chicago Tribune: 3 things to watch for in the White Sox-Yankees series, including Eloy Jimenez channeling his inner Dick Allen and Lucas Giolito eyeing win No. 10

The Yankees make their only appearance of the season on the South Side this weekend, beginning Thursday night when Ivan Nova faces his former team.

Though they haven't been classic rivals since baseball split into a divisional format in 1969, the Yankees traditionally have been one of the biggest draws in Chicago -- six of the top nine regular-season attendance totals at old Comiskey Park were Yankees-White Sox games.

They come to town only once a year now because of the unbalanced schedule, and the Sox are expecting strong crowds for the four-game series.
