Love the Twins at home here. The Twins have dominated AL West opponents, winning eight of their last nine games against them and I dont see that changing here. They have also won five of Perezs last six starts against teams with losing records and thats exactly what the Mariners are. The Mariners have stumbled as of late and have lost their last six games after a win. Plus Mariners pitcher Mike Leake has been roughed up in his last five road starts. Take the best team in baseball to showcase why they are where they are

    My Pick: Minnesota -172 70%

U.S.S. Mariner: Game 70, Mariners at Twins - A Tale of Two Cities, One of Which Comprises Twin Cities, But For Our Purposes Will Be Referred To As A Sin..

I take a break for work and family obligations, and lo and behold, the Mariners notch a series win! I should avoid talking about them even more! The Mariners head to the Twin Cities to kick off a series against the surprising Twins, owners of the largest divisional lead in the game, and one of baseball's best records.

Their offense - which is second behind Seattle in HRs, despite 200 fewer PAs - gets a lot of the credit for their start, and deservedly so: they're slugging .515 as a team, 45 points higher than second-place Houston. But the real shocker has been their pitching staff, which ranks 7th in team fWAR thus far after ranking 20th in last year's 78-84 season.

Lookout Landing: Series Preview: Mariners (28-41) at Twins (43-21)

The Mariners won a series! Their series win against the Angels over the weekend was the first series the Mariners have won since sweeping a two-game set back on May 13-14 against Oakland. It was the first series of three games or more that they've won since April 18-21, also against the Angels. There will be those few who want to see the Mariners tank as hard as possible in this lost season, but winning a few games here and there isn't necessarily a bad thing. If only to make watching this team less of a excercise in nihilism and to provide some fun and excitement during this summer.
