Happ is right where I thought he'd be for this time of year. I do think he will start getting better as the season develops. I wish he were a 7 innings type guy but maybe later. I feel bad for pitchers like Junis and Sale, they are pretty good with no backup and the same problem exist for him today. I think New York clears this but we should have some runs.

My Pick: New York -143 & Over 9.5

Through 50 games, New York ranks 6th in OPS and 6th in runs scored. For the season, Kansas City ranks 18th in OPS and 18th in runs scored. Look for both offenses to score plenty on Saturday. New York Yankees win in high scoring over game 7-5.

    My Pick: Over 10

Happ has been pretty solid overall for New York this year, but hes had a couple of real stinker outings as well. In his last game in Baltimore, Happ put up six earned on nine hits in 3.2 innings, and hes given up at least three earned in three of his last four. As for Junis, hes given up 13 earned over his last three starts in a period of 16.2 innings and is 0-3 in that span. KC is fully capable of winning this game if Junis can bounce back, but +120 isn't enough to get me to bite- I have to go with the better team here and thats the Yankees.

    My Pick: New York -143

Pinstripe Alley: New York Yankees vs. Kansas City Royals: J.A. Happ vs.

After last night's rainout, the Yankees are scheduled to play a doubleheader against the Royals today. We'll see if the weather cooperates. For now, though, it looks like game one will proceed on time.

J.A. Happ will start the afternoon portion, and he badly needs a good start. The left-hander owns a 5.16 ERA (5.71 FIP) over 52.1 innings. His last start saw him allow six runs against the Orioles. He's served up home runs at a ridiculous rate (2.24 HR/9), so perhaps a reasonable goal for him today is to keep the ball in the park.

Royals Review: Saturday Doubleheader Thread - Yankees at Royals

The Royals are playing back-to-back double headers for the first time in as long as I can imagine. They had Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday off this week. They played a double header Wednesday and intend to do so again, today, should the weather cooperate. The first game will be played at 1:15, the other at 7:15.

Jakob Junis, who has kind of fallen off a cliff, this year, will start the first game. J.A. Happ will oppose him. Happ isn't having a particularly good season, either. He's a lefty so Ryan O'Hearn will be forced to sit in the first game to allow Chris Owings an opportunity to strike out in his stead.

Empire Sports Media: New York Yankees Rained Out Against Royals

Game one of a three game set with the Kansas City Royals has been rained out for the New York Yankees, and the teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday.

The game was called due to rain in the forecast. The Yankees were actually taking batting practice with no rain when the game was called.

Saturday's games will be on a day-night doubleheader schedule. First pitch is scheduled for 2:05PM (ET) for game one, and 8:05PM (ET) for game two. Reminder, Kansas City is in the central time zone, throwing off start times in the east coast.
