***OVER 6.5*** I can understand this total being where it is as you have a battle of staff aces between Scherzer and DeGrom. But while these are highly recognizable names today, both of these guys have looked human this season and DeGrom was touched up in his last start against lowly Miami. I this the Nats get to DeGrom today, I'm predicting a 4-3 or 5-4 kind of game.

Scared to bet UNDER 6.5 in tonight's duel between Scherzer and deGrom? Don't be. Since 2018, games with a total of 6.5 or less are 18-9 to the UNDER.— Joe Rodgers (@RodgersBC) May 22, 2019

New York Mets (55% consensus). Three-time Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer and the reigning National League recipient Jacob deGrom will renew acquaintances in a rematch of Opening Day starters on Wednesday at Citi Field. Although Scherzer allowed just two runs on two hits and struck out 12, deGrom fanned 10 over six innings as the New York Mets posted a 2-0 win over the Washington Nationals on March 28... http://bit.ly/2JesIsW

Washington Times: Mets stun Doolittle, Nationals in 8th for 6-1 win
NEW YORK (AP) - Juan Lagares hit a go-ahead, three-run double off Washington closer Sean Doolittle, Rajai Davis capped the six-run eighth inning with a three-run homer in his first at-bat for the Mets and New York rallied to beat the Nationals 6-1 Wednesday night.
Max Scherzer stranded seven runners in six shutout innings, and Adam Eaton homered on Jacob deGrom's fourth pitch in a matchup of Cy Young Award winners.
Washington's bullpen entered with a worst-in-the-majors 6.61 ERA, and it got even worse. The Nationals have won just twice in 11 starts by Scherzer, who remained 2-5.
Federal Baseball: Washington Nationals blow 1-0 lead in eighth, lose 6-1 to New York Mets in Citi Field...
Max Scherzer worked his way through six scoreless innings, laboring at times, but making the 1-0 lead he took the mound with in Flushing, Queens, NY's Citi Field hold up while he was in the game.
Then it was up to the Washington Nationals' bullpen, and they got through seven, but ran into trouble in the eighth, with Kyle Barraclough giving up a one-out double and two-out walk before Sean Doolittle came on and hit Carlos Gomez, loading the bases, before giving up up a base-clearing double to center by Juan Lagares, 3-1 Mets.
NY Post: Mets explode in eighth to topple Nationals for third straight win
Mickey Callaway didn't mince words before the Mets went for their third straight win over the Nationals on Wednesday at Citi Field: "We've got to win some games. We have to approach this like it's the playoffs.''
It took a while, but his team finally responded in a 6-1 win.
After being shut down by Max Scherzer for six innings, the Mets got to the much-maligned Washington bullpen in a six-run eighth, sparked by a three-run double from Juan Lagares and a three-run homer by Rajai Davis in his first at-bat as a Met.
