Vargas 3-5 with a 4.23 ERA has not pitched poorly. He is a victim of the Mets bats not being consistent and the bullpen not being reliable. The Twins play well at home and although taking an L last night I think the Twins with Perez on the mound this afternoon gets it done and I take the under here as well.

    My Pick: Minnesota -167 & Under 10.5

I haven't seen enough from either one of these pitchers to determine how they truly impact a game but I do know the Nationals can hit. That may be all you have to know here. Well and the Orioles are rocking one of the worse offenses in the league. I'll take Washington today.

    My Pick: Washington -185

I truly believe Dodgers are the better team but they had a rough one last night then had to travel. All signs that this will be a long day for them. It's good that they have Kershaw but the bullpen was depleted so he's gonna have to be better than average for them to have a chance. Efflin just has to do his job.

    My Pick: Philadelphia +157 & Under 9.5

This should be a very good entertaining matchup today. They are very similar in style and talent and the line matches that today. With the Nationals playing better than they were in the beginning of the season the odds of Sanchez's record getting better are pretty good. The Nationals sweeping the Phillies is possible but Philly should steal one.

I don't know how long it's going to take New York to get back to playing their kind of ball but since they came off the gas just before the all-star break they will have to get back on track before they get caught from behind. Stroman is statistically better than Tanaka so they need to get it together to get Tanaka above 500 today.

Their is still plenty of baseball left before we get into the post season. If the Mets want to try and make any type of move they need more consistency out of their pitching rotation. I still believe they can make a mess at the top but the pitching staff needs to clear their heads and step up. This is a game that Syndergaard, if focused can take control. I'll take the Mets tonight.

My Pick: New York -135 & Over 8

Strasburg is a stud anyway but against the Phillies he seems even more so, he just has their number usually. Pivetta is probably slightly better than his record says but I see him having a problem keeping even with Strasburg today. Washington has been hitting the cover off the ball as of late and stringing together some runs. I go Washington tonight. But I taking the under as well.

    My Pick: Washington -138 & Under 9.5

Since getting rocked in the post season and everyone saying he tips his pitches Yu Darvish has not been the same. I don't know how long the Cubs can keep putting him out there as a starter. His 2-4 record doesn't represent how truly unreliable he has been. I think the Pirates have a chance here. Should take a look at the over here today as well.

    My Pick: Pittsburgh +155 & Over 9.5

This may seem like a slam dunk for the Rangers because of Valdez's problems on the mound but I think that might not be the case here. Both teams have been off a week and it may not seem like much but the all-star break is notorious for causing teams to come back off their game. Lynn can be off just as much as Valdez and I think Houston is better managed than Texas.

    My Pick: Houston -130

I don't know if my pick is a that a boy to Bauer or more a reality check for what the Reds do when Mahle is on the mound. Bauer and the Indians are statistically only slightly better than the Reds but I'll take them today while they are on this 5 game streak.

    My Pick: Cleveland -125 & Over 9

Baltimore is feeling confident coming in today with their ace Cashner on the mound and winning their last two games including yesterdays 4-1 win against Toronto and a slugfest with Tampa Bay. They are not the best team in baseball but they do keep plugging away at teams and they steal another win today.

    My Pick: Baltimore +145

I say he is an Ace for Baltimore only because he is responsible for almost a third of their wins. BAL +145

Both teams are struggling to stay consistent heading into the All-Star break in a couple of days. Chavez is statistically better than Pineda but I'm still willing to take the Twins at home at this time. Should be a good contest between two of the leagues better offenses.

    My Pick: Minnesota -149

Darvish is broken, I have been saying it for awhile now. He can be a dominant pitcher but as soon as he gets in a tough spot, and it doesn't matter the inning he cracks and can't hold water. Pirates take 3rd in a row.

    My Pick: Pittsburgh +121

The Tigers are bad is almost an understatement. The Sox are comfortable at home, it's where they play their best ball. They have been waiting to open up their shiny draft pick Cease and see what he's capable of and they are doing it against the right team. The Sox help the rookie to his first win if he last long enough. Sox today.

    My Pick: Chicago -130

Musgrove has been pitching well, the Pirates are hitting well and Hendricks was struggling prior to sitting out due to injury all a bad mix for the Cubs today.

    My Pick: Pittsburgh +120
