Official Site of the Bulls: Offseason Dedication Paying Off for Bigger, Stronger, Faster Bulls

    USF Senior Writer

TAMPA, AUG. 21, 2019 - In order for the Bulls to become the team Charlie Strong truly wanted them to be for 2019, players had to totally commit to becoming bigger, stronger and even faster this offseason.

After months of hard work and holding each other to a high standard, USF has Strong's approval thanks to players undergoing a transformation that could help lead to a breakout season for the Bulls.

"We've put up big numbers," said Strong on the first day of fall camp. "When you come out here, you want to make sure those numbers, they transfer it from the weight room to the field now.

ESPN.com: Source: Cowboys sign LB Smith to 5-year deal

OXNARD, Calif. -- While talks with Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott and Amari Cooper have mostly stalled over the summer, the Dallas Cowboys have signed a key piece to their future, with linebacker Jaylon Smith agreeing to a five-year, $65 million deal with $35.5 guaranteed, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The deal makes Smith, 24, the third-highest-paid inside linebacker in the league in terms of guaranteed money.

Smith was set to become a restricted free agent after this season, but he opted to take the security of a longer-term deal now rather than going through a potentially protracted negotiation.

SoFloBulls.com: #GreenBreed19 Welcome New Bulls! The Class of 2019 OL Room

Welcome to the latest installment of our new series, "Welcome New Bulls!". This series is devoted to discussing each position group in the USF recruiting class of 2019 and my expectations for each player as they prepare for their first collegiate season adorning green and gold for our beloved Bulls. While it's difficult to predict exactly how much each true freshmen will contribute on the field in year one at the collegiate level, I'll take a stab at it based on the most current USF roster available. Without further ado, let's get the show on the road!

As the season inches closer and closer to the Wisconsin game on August 30th, let's take a closer look at the class of 2019 OL room consisting of Joshua Blanchard (D1bound_Jb), Matthew McDuffie (bcot62), and Dustyn Hall (lump73_hall).

  • Official Site of the Bulls: Bulls Get In A Good Scrimmage in Bucs' 'Awesome' Indoor Facility

    By TOM ZEBOLD
    USF Senior Writer

TAMPA, AUG. 17, 2019 - The continuous rains that have hit the Tampa Bay area forced USF indoors for the Bulls' last big scrimmage of fall camp that took on an NFL-type feel thanks to a strong relationship with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

With less than two weeks to go before the season kicks off, head coach 's Bulls were able to run through well more than 100 plays Saturday inside the Bucs' state-of-the-art indoor facility at the AdventHealth Training Center.

"I just appreciate the Bucs for allowing us to come in and get our work in because it's been raining all week," Strong said.

Coming off their second open date of the year, the Bulls return to Tampa to kick off the month of November and won't leave the state for the rest of the regular season. They'll turn their sights towards the Temple Owls, arguably USF's biggest kryptonite since joining the American.

Travels to USF on Thursday, Nov. 7 at 8:00 pm on ESPN
Head Coach: Rod Carey (1st season)
    2018 record: 8-5 (7-1 in AAC)

Temple had an odd offseason to say the least.

  • Voodoo Five: Bullseye: ECU Pirates

    Previous Bullseye Opponent Primers:

As the second half of the year rolls on, USF will be forced to travel to ECU to resume conference play and had UConn not been historically bad last season, the Pirates would have been the prime bottom dweller for the conference.

Hosts USF on Saturday, Oct. 26. Time and Network TBA
Head Coach: Mike Houston (1st season)
    2018 record: 3-9 (1-7 in AAC)

The Mike Houston era begins this season at ECU after the experiment of Scottie Montgomery failed, leaving Pirate fans to wonder why the hell did they fire Ruffin McNeill?
