The Dallas Mavericks did some proverbial housekeeping on Sunday when they picked up the team option on the contract of center Willie Cauley-Stein.
That means Cauley-Stein will be paid $4.1 million during the 2021-22 season.
A 7-0, 240-pound six-year veteran, Cauley-Stein averaged 5.3 points, 4.5 rebounds and 17.1 minutes in 53 games last season. He also shot a career-high 63.2 percent from the field and started 12 games.
Cauley-Stein, who turns 28 on Aug. 28, fits the mold of new general manager Nico Harrison, who is seeking players who are long and athletic.
The Mavs acquired Cauley-Stein from the Golden State Warriors on Jan.
