Keeping It Heel: UNC Basketball: Analyst praises 5-star Tar Heels commit

Five-star guard Caleb Love won't be on North Carolina's campus until next Summer but already he's earning some national praise.Love is one of five players committed to UNC's 2020 recruiting class which ranks No. 2 overall on 247 Sports and includes three five-star recruits. He was the third player to commit to the class following in line of Day'Ron Sharpe and Walker Kessler.

With Love committed, Roy Williams and his staff added a dynamic playmaker to their backcourt with the expectation that Cole Anthony will leave after just one season in Chapel Hill. They would also later add R.

Tar Heel Times: Lakers' Danny Green finds ways to connect, in locker room and behind a mic

Danny Green, 32, inspires a certain kind of respect for his professionalism. Coaches want to coach him, stars want to play with him, and front offices want to add him to their rosters. But the same things that make him a respected player - honesty, openness, and an easygoing charm - make him the kind of NBA player who fans see as a peer. Tar Heel Times: Coach Jeff McInnis, Combine Academy upset nationally ranked Oak Hill at Carmel Tip-Off

Former UNC point guard Jeff McInnis was hired in the summer at Lincolnton's Combine Academy with the hope of building a national power. From the looks of things, it won't take long. In his first game with a new team, McInnis directed Combine to a 76-74 overtime win over nationally ranked Oak Hill (Va.). "This team just wouldn't quit," McInnis said. Carolina March: UNC at UNCW: Three Things Learned

Most of y'all probably didn't pay money to watch last night's game at UNC-Wilmington. Lucky for you, I am a sucker and paid $12.50 for two hours of a subpar audio and visual experience. UNC eventually pulled away for the win, which is what usually happens when you're the more talented team. Other than the obvious outcome, here are three more things we learned in this young season, Inside Non-PresenceA concern that was lost in Cole Anthony's explosion against Notre Dame was the relative lack of production in the paint. Against the Irish, Armando Bacot and Garrison Brooks only attempted a combined 14 field goals and UNC finished with just 22 points in the paint.

Tar Heel Times: Justin Pierce Excels on Familiar Ground

UNC played its first game at Trask Coliseum on Friday. That was not the case for Justin Pierce, who was suiting up for the fourth time in Wilmington, albeit in a different uniform this time around. The William & Mary transfer made use of that familiarity in providing the Tar Heels with an early scoring boost before finishing with his 17th career double-double. Tar Heel Times: A night to remember for Nassir Little

Trial Blazer rookie Nassir Little made his NBA debut on the same night that Damian Lillard set a franchise scoring record. Little showed off his length and his versatility on the defensive end. It's obvious that he is willing to sacrifice his body falling to the floor while battling for a rebound or fighting for the loose ball. And, that's just what he likes to do. Tar Heel Times: Recruiting Analyst: Caleb Love "can fill up the box score"

The Tar Heels are going to have to find a replacement for Cole Anthony, who looks to be a high-end lottery selection in June's NBA Draft. Fortunately, Roy Williams got another good one in Caleb Love. A ferocious competitor, Love could be more explosive around the basket and off of his first step than Coby White, and just like Anthony, can fill up the box score. Carolina March: UNC Basketball at UNCW - Player of the Game: Justin Pierce

Last night's game was another poor shooting performance overall for the Tar Heels. The team shot 27-72 overall (37.5%) and 8-25 (32%) from behind the arc. You like that the pace brought about 72 shots, but you just hate seeing only 27 of them go on.Thus, when you have someone who managed to go 7-12 overall and 4-7 from three, both well above the team averages, that someone is likely a big reason the team was able to win by sixteen points. So it was for Justin Pierce, whose familiarity with Trask Coliseum from his days at William & Mary came in handy on Friday night in his first road game as a Tar Heel.

Fansided: UNC Basketball: Cole Anthony's impressive double-double start

Cole Anthony introduced himself to college basketball in North Carolina's season-opening win vs. Notre Dame on Wednesday night, scoring a new freshman record 34 points and recording a double-double.Just a few days later, Anthony helped lead UNC to a 2-0 start with a road win at UNCW. While many couldn't see the game due to it only being broadcasted on FloHoops, Anthony and Justin Pierce paced the Tar Heels to a victory. Both recorded a double-double in the game and for the freshman, he achieved something that hasn't been done in over 15 years.

By recording a double-double in two-straight games, Anthony became the first UNC freshman to do so since Sean May in 2002:

Cole Anthony is the first @UNC_Basketball freshman to record a double-double in each of the first two games of a season since Sean May in 2002-03.
