I think the Sharks take this one on the road. They have not played well on the road, but the Panthers have gone just 9-11 here at home. Florida has pulled a couple of upsets in a row, and the Sharks have lost their last two games in a row, but I will look for the norm to return. The Sharks are 4-1 the last five in this series and the Road team is 5-0 the last five between these team. That seals the deal for me. Sharks win outright

    My Pick: San Jose -120

  • San Jose Mercury News: Takeaways: Erik Karlsson's absence noticeable in Sharks loss to Panthers

SUNRISE, Fla. -- Life can change quickly in the NHL.

Last week, Pete DeBoer said the All Star break was coming at a bad time for the Sharks, who were riding the high of seven straight wins. Now, it couldn't come soon enough.

On Monday, the Sharks lost their third straight game in Florida while attempting to make due without a pair of Olympic-caliber defensemen in Erik Karlsson and Marc-Edouard Vlasic. Things won't get any easier on Tuesday when the Sharks travel to Washington D.C. for a date with the Stanley Cup champs that will send them into a 10-day break, which includes All Star Weekend and the bye week.

  • Fear the Fin: Sharks at Panthers: Lines, gamethread, and where to watch

The San Jose Sharks (28-15-7, 2nd Pacific Division) meet the Florida Panthers (19-20-8, 6th Atlantic) in the second-to-last game of the pre-All Star East Coast trip.

Despite being 3-5-2 in their last 10 games, the Panthers have a two-game win streak coming off a 4-2 win over the Nashville Predators. The Panthers' biggest threat will be 25-year-old Vincent Trocheck, who just came back from a nasty ankle injury. In his two games back, Trocheck has two goals and one assist.

The Sharks had a seven-game winning streak just last week, but have now lost two games in a row.

  • Fansided: San Jose Sharks Face Off Against Florida; Shutdown Erik Karlsson

The San Jose Sharks went without two of their top 4 defenders during their last game with the absences of both Marc-Edouard Vlasic and Erik Karlsson from the starting line up. The void they left showed with Tampa Bay being able to set up some highly danger opportunities and convert them.

Team Teal dominated in the possession and shot share metrics, but were ultimately no match for the skill of the Lightning roster. They pounced on every San Jose Sharks mistake and made them pay dearly for it. Martin Jones at a difficult night in net, but made some pretty key saves early that kept the San Jose Sharks within reach until halfway through the second.

(65% consensus). The Florida Panthers have gotten much healthier in the last week and look to make one last run at being a playoff contender as they go for a third straight victory Monday night against the visiting San Jose Sharks. The Panthers got Nick Bjugstad back a little over a week ago and fellow forward Vincent Trocheck has recorded three points in two games since returning from a two-month absence with an ankle injury...

Scouting Report (Courtesy of Field Level Media)

The Florida Panthers surge toward the All-Star break knowing that the Vincent Trocheck Factor has returned in full force.

The Panthers trek home from a successful trip to Nashville to close out the unofficial first half of the season with Monday night's contest against the San Jose Sharks at BB&T Center in Sunrise, Fla.

The 25-year-old Trocheck returned to the lineup in Friday's 3-1 home win over Toronto. His resurgence came after breaking his right ankle two months ago in Ottawa, undergoing surgery, rehabbing diligently and bringing back his emotion, grit and relentless game against the Atlantic Division rival Maple Leafs.
