On the Forecheck: Nashville Predators 2, Florida Panthers 3 (SO): Third Period Resurgence Not Enough to Redeem Preds

The Nashville Predators were looking to bounce back from their loss to the Coyotes with a win over the Florida Panthers. The lineup, still without Filip Forsberg and Rocco Grimaldi, saw the return of Miikka Salomaki along with the debut of Yakov Trenin. The changes didn't stop there...

While the Preds had some chances during the first period, the first twenty minutes ended scoreless with the Preds only tallying nine shots on goal, while the Panthers managed five. Honestly, it was a quiet start to a Saturday night at home from the team and the crowd.

On the Forecheck: Nashville Predators vs. Florida Panthers Preview: Cat Scratch Fever

After dropping a contest to the Coyotes on Thursday evening, the Predators look to improve some parts of their game and get back into the win column.

    Nashville Predators

The Predators had their butts handed to them by the Coyotes on Thursday, dropping the game 2-5. Juuse Saros was the victim of multiple Coyotes power plays and Nashville couldn't get shots on Darcy Kuemper.

Filip Forsberg did not skate on Thursday, but he could return to the lineup tonight against the Panthers.

While it's not time to panic yet, the Predators' penalty kill has been atrocious.

Fansided: Nashville Predators Depth Being Greatly Tested Early On

The Nashville Predators have looked the part of being one of the top teams in the Western Conference when they have their full cast of characters. However, they're having trouble building early chemistry with the roster shuffling that's having to occur.

Roster changes and shuffling are better to be happening now early in the regular season than at a time when the playoff push is occurring in March and April. It is keeping the Predators from looking like their best in some games. They have three losses to teams that, at least on paper, they're better than.

The most recent news is the lower-body injury to Filip Forsberg.

Fansided: Nashville Predators Try to Rebound Against Florida Panthers

The Nashville Predators took a brutal 7-4 loss in LA to start out their west coast road trip. The Predators fallout seemed to be some form of "jet lag" as they managed to go into Las Vegas, three days later, and dismantled a powerful Golden Knights club.

The Predators' solid performance against Vegas made you think that their losses to Detroit and LA might have just been flukes. However, the Predators traveled to Arizona two days later and got dominated. It ended their road trip with losses in two of three games.

The 5-2 final score in Arizona does not accurately portray how the game truly went.

On the Forecheck: Nashville Predators 2, Arizona Coyotes 5: Noche de los Yotes

The Nashville Predators found themselves in Phoenix Thursday night after a high-speed match filled with rough stuff against the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday. After a series of assaults by Mark Stone and Ryan Reaves, the Predators were forced to play against the Arizona Coyotes without Filip Forsberg, who'd been riding a hot streak, scoring a point in each of the first six games. Unfortunately, his streak would come to an end, stopped by Vegas goons. Daniel Carr--who was recently waived, cleared, and remained with the NHL club--started in his place, with the lines otherwise remaining the same.

Fansided: Nashville Predators in the Desert to Take on Arizona Coyotes

This could be the toughest test the Nashville Predators have face from an offensive standpoint as the Coyotes allow the third-least amount of goal per game at 1.8. The Predators give up on average nearly four goals per game.

We have a clash here of two teams who different things very well. The Coyotes clamp down on defense and make things ugly at time. The Predators like to push the attack take risks and force the other team into penalties.

The Coyotes really stymied the Predators' offense last season in their two wins in the season series.

On the Forecheck: If Filip Forsberg is injured, Preds could turn to Kyle Turris

Filip Forsberg left Tuesday's game against the Vegas Golden Knights partway through the third period and did not participate in the team's optional practice on Wednesday in Glendale.

Peter Laviolette said that Filip Forsberg is a "game-time decision with a lower-body injury" for tomorrow against the Coyotes.

    -- Adam Vingan (@AdamVingan) October 16, 2019

The Predators are notoriously close-mouthed about injury details even among NHL teams, so we're unlikely to learn anything more about Forsberg's injury until after the season, or until someone makes a revealing Instagram post from his apartment.

On the Forecheck: Thursday's Dump & Chase: Who needs sleep, anyway?

The Predators would be relieved that Daniel Carr cleared waivers today given the injury to Forsberg. Carr will stay with the team, isn't going down.

    -- Pierre LeBrun (@PierreVLeBrun) October 16, 2019

    Strange... I don't feel relieved.

Filip Forsberg, who exited last night's game to "get something looked at," according to Peter Laviolette, is not participating in today's optional practice.

Most of the team also isn't, though.-- Adam Vingan (@AdamVingan) October 16, 2019

    Yeah. Definitely not relieved.

Fansided: Nashville Predators Get Ready for First Road Game Against L.A. Kings

It's kind of unprecedented to see a team start a new season with four-straight home games, but that's what the Nashville Predators have had. They went 3-1 in those games, and have brought plenty of excitement and optimism to the fans.

Now the first road test of the season will come against the Los Angeles Kings, a team that struggled last season. They're 1-2 so far this season, and have given up 17 goals in those games. Not a good way to reverse their bad fortunes.

The Predators, on the other hand, have been very hot offensively.

Fansided: Nashville Predators: State of the Central Division After Two Weeks

It's still very early in regular season, and you can't make crazy conclusions after just two weeks worth of games. However, there are some Central Division teams that have stumbled out of the gate. They have time to turn it around, but not much. There's also some usual suspects we expected to be there.

So the Central Division is widely considered the most competitive division in the NHL. You have the defending Stanley Cup champions in the St.Louis Blues, a red-hot Colorado Avalanche team and a couple other teams who are gradually rebuilding into playoff contenders. Then you have the Nashville Predators, who are in their own right trying to reverse their bad fortunes from the past two seasons.

Fansided: Nashville Predators Fail in Comeback Attempt Against LA Kings

Less than 48 hours prior, the Nashville Predators completed a thrilling comeback to get a victory over the Washington Capitals. They didn't get rewarded with the same result against the Los Angeles Kings yesterday, losing 7-4.

It was a wild turn of events that led to the seven goals scored by the Kings. Even more wild, the Predators entered the third period trailing 4-1 and without much hope.Yes, the Predators defense was pretty bad. It's starting to become a concern that as great as the Predators offense is, their defense may be a liability that forces the team to score four-plus goals per game to win.
