With any luck, tomorrow we'll be fully into summer with no more of this "lingering in 2018-19" nonsense around the hockeysphere.

Fansided: Nashville Predators: Grading Kyle Turris' Forgettable 2018-19 Season

Speculations are swirling around the Nashville Predators' offseason as they figure out how to improve their roster and avoid a first-round playoff exit again. That means possibly letting current players go who aren't really working out, and Kyle Turris is the first player that comes to mind. His season left a lot to be desired, to put it mildly. You can say that about the entire team, with the exception of a handful of players.

Turris falls into the category of players you want gone because they're not living up to the lucrative contract. The honeymoon period usually doesn't last very long in sports.

On the Forecheck: Breakdown: Nashville Acquires Goaltender Connor Ingram

After not offering a contract to Czech goalie Karel Vejmelka before the June 1st deadline, Nashville was left at two goalies signed in the organization outside of Nashville. After today's trade, that number jumps to three, with the acquisition of Connor Ingram from the Tampa Bay Lightning for a 7th-round pick in 2021.

Before I get into the breakdown of his game, I want to address the season that Ingram had. I spent the past couple years in Syracuse watching Ingram live and getting close with people who know him. The talent is undeniable.

On the Forecheck: 210th Overall: 7th-Round Options for Nashville

This past week I ranked who I determined were the 93 best draft-eligible prospects for the 2019 NHL Entry Draft in a week in Vancouver. If you missed it, you can read those here, here, and here. But the NHL draft goes well beyond 93 selections, and with Nashville having seven of them this season, I thought it best to identify a handful of plausible options for David Poile at each selection. I'll begin with the seventh round and work my way down throughout the week leading up to next Friday and Saturday.

Fansided: Nashville Predators: David Poile's Trickiest Offseason Yet?

Many would argue the Nashville Predators have one of the best general managers in all of the sports, and certainly in the NHL. For the Predators, GM David Poile has masterfully constructed teams over the years that have gone further than preseason expectations. However, the Predators have been going in reverse the last two seasons, and Poile has to figure out a way to turn the ship around.

It may look somewhat bleak right now, but the Predators remain just a few pieces away from being one of the top Stanley Cup contenders again. One of those pieces might certainly be a major free agent, and that will mean taking considerable risks.
