  • Covey has given up 10 ERs in his last 7.1 innings, and he has a 7.80 ERA and .280 allowed batting average on the road. Kikuchi isn't fairing much better as he has allowed 11 hits and 4 in his last 10 innings and he has a 5.51 ERA and .284 allowed batting average at home. Kikuchi is a rookie and I think his arm is probably fading so too am I fading his starts - Covey has been awful too so you gotta like the OVER here.

    My Pick: Over 9.5

Chicago White Sox vs Seattle Mariners on 2019-09-13 added by Covers

    Seattle Mariners
(68% consensus). Kyle Lewis is making a huge impression during his brief fling in the majors and looks to make some history when the Seattle Mariners host the Chicago White Sox on Friday for the opener of their three-game series. Lewis went deep for the third straight game during Thursday's 11-5 loss to Cincinnati and will look to join Colorado's Trevor Story (2016) as the only players to homer in each of their first four major-league contests... http://bit.ly/2GveEJC

U.S.S. Mariner: Game 148, White Sox at Mariners

Yusei Kikuchi vs. Dylan Covey, 7:10pm

The Mariners pitching staff boasts a team ERA of 5.17, with a FIP of 5.04. Those marks are awful, though not the worst in the majors, but due to the magic of park factors, the M's currently rank dead last in Fangraphs' team WAR table. Baseball Prospectus would undoubtedly rank them there too, as they're even harsher on the M's pitchers than ERA or FIP. The White Sox rank slightly better, but not by a ton. Their ERA is 4.97, and their FIP is 4.94. While their strikeout rate and HR/9 is slightly better than Seattle's, they give back a lot through poor control - all of those walks make the HRs hurt more.
