Spencer Turnbull has been on of the few bright spots on the Tiger team and he actually had himself one hell of a rookie year. He got injured not to long ago and is now making his third start since being on the IR so I think all his pitch count limitations will be lifted. I like the tigers here as well as the under because these are two unispiring offesnses and Matt Wisler looked okay with Braves but I haven't seen him this year. But good news is he's facing the tigers so this is basically another triple A rehab start for him which should bode well.

    My Pick: Detroit -105 & Under 9

  • Seattle is the better baseball team and Milone may not have a stellar win-loss record, but he does have a nearly elite WHIP and is up against a Tigers team ranked #29 offensively. Another note here is that Detroit is also at the bottom of the American League against lefties. Value is with the Mariners this afternoon.

    My Pick: Seattle -115

Spencer Turnbull has been fun to watch when he is healthy and it shuld be interesting to see what he has. He also has yet to win a game at home going 0-7, the fact you need to read into with that tho is the fact that they didnt score a run in 6 of those. I think this is a great spot for him to break that trend.

    My Pick: Detroit +105

Detroit has made this series more competitive than it should have been but really it's Seattle playing with the half effort that has plagued them all season. I'm still going with Seattle today.

The Seattle Times: Mariners easily handle the Tigers to finish their season series against Detroit with a 6-1 record

    MLB

DETROIT -- If only they could play the Tigers more than six or seven times in a season. After a one-night outlier of no offense and a defeat, the Mariners finalized a year's worth of supremacy over the worst team in baseball with a victory in the final game of the season series.

Seattle's offense, which has been largely nonexistent against quality teams with good pitching or even decent teams with mediocre pitching for the better part of the last four weeks, continued to excel against a pitching staff with their worst ERA in all of MLB at 5.

Lookout Landing: The Mariners use their Love Languages to overcome the Tigers

    MLB

Development is not linear, and not everyone responds identically to the same stimuli. To understand how to get the best out of someone, you must know their inclinations, their strengths and weaknesses, and what motivates them to be their best. This is true of coaching and player development, but even more so of love. With our eyes on the future for the majority of this season, let's go through how the Mariners used their five discrete Love Languages to solve the puzzle of the Detroit Tigers today.

Mallex mashed a microcosm of his season into today's game.

Fansided: Detroit Tigers drop rubber match to Seattle Mariners

The Detroit Tigers played their final game of a three-game series against the Seattle Mariners today and wound up losing the game 7-2. Detroit lost this series 1-2 and went 1-6 against the Seattle during the regular season. These games were largely inconsequential, however, as neither of these teams has much hope of making the playoffs.

Spencer Turnbull got the start today for Detroit, and while he didn't pitch terribly, he didn't do enough to secure himself a victory. He went for 5.0 innings pitched and gave up three runs on six hits, but he was able to record eight strikeouts along the way.

The Detroit News: Jake Rogers, Tigers cut down Mariners

    MLB

Detroit -- His throwing arm, which was gaining legendary status in the minor leagues, had yet to make much of an impact in the big leagues.

Tigers rookie catcher Jake Rogers had thrown out 49 percent of would-be base-stealers in four minor-league seasons. But four of the first six stolen-base attempts against him in his brief time in the big leagues were successful.

But on Wednesday night, in helping the Tigers to a 3-2 win over the Seattle Mariners, Rogers demonstrated what all the fuss was about.

He ended the third inning by gunning down the speedy Keon Broxton trying to steal second base.

Fansided: Detroit Tigers snap losing streak against Seattle Mariners

The Detroit Tigers played the second game of a three-game series against the Seattle Mariners tonight and were able to snap an eight-game losing streak against the team with a 3-2 victory. Detroit got off to a hot start, picking up two runs in the second and a third run in the third, and never let go of the lead.

Edwin Jackson made his second start for his old club and pitched well once again. He went 5.0 innings and only allowed two earned runs while striking out four. Jackson has looked great in both his outings with the Tigers so far.

The Detroit News: 'He'll be a weapon': Rookie catcher Jake Rogers helps Tigers cut down Mariners

    MLB

    (Photo: Carlos Osorio, Associated Press)

Detroit -- Tigers rookie catcher Jake Rogers just shrugged it off.

"Nah," he said. "I just like to do it. It feels good to throw people out. It's something where I look for it and I kind of have a knack for it."

His manager and teammates were considerably more impressed.

"Jake made two throws tonight that kept us out of bad situations," said Tigers starter Edwin Jackson, who pitched five solid innings in the Tigers' 3-2 win over the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday. "I just can't stress enough how big those plays were in this game.
