Get out of here with this total in SF. Bailey gets picked on for being a gas can but he's really not that horrible. I mean he keeps finding gigs in the MLB and I don't think this SF team gets hot today. I don't have faith in Beede but the recent form of the A's is enough for me at this point to take the under. This park is huge and these teams won't string together multiple hits and I see this game scoring 5ish today. I love this under for some reason

    My Pick: Under 9

Beede has been bad and most importantly for us, winless in his last five starts. Hes given up at least four runs in each of his last four starts and hasnt earned a victory since July 14 against Milwaukee, his first start out of the All-Star break. Bailey has been inconsistent to say the least but he has proven to be serviceable. Gimme the A's here at good value

    My Pick: Oakland -119

San Jose Mercury News: Struggling Matt Chapman looks to regain form, hits two homers in Athletics win over Giants

    MLB

SAN FRANCISCO -- Matt Chapman's mom has gotten used to the army sergeant buzzcut, but the look alarmed the third baseman's Postmates delivery guy the other day.

"I kinda snuck up behind him like 'Matt?' and he was like 'Woah!' Chapman said. "I've never had people freak out over a haircut like this before."

All this attention paid to one haircut might be spent elsewhere if the haircut-to-offensive-production correlation didn't fit so seamlessly. Since Chad Pinder took clippers to his locks in Chicago, Chapman's put together a .313 average with three home runs.

Two of those home runs came Wednesday afternoon.

Athletics Nation: Series #40: Athletics at Giants - The Battle Begins Again

    MLB

Other than the playoffs, this is the most meaningful baseball the A's will play all year long.

It is time for the first half of the now annual Bay Bridge Series between the A's and the Giants, wherein the winner will be gifted a trophy made from a bit of the actual Bay Bridge. Last year, the A's won the trophy handily by winning four of six meetings.

The A's and Giants have been long time rivals despite playing in different leagues, but the intensity has been getting greater over recent years. From the two teams playing just across the bay from each other, to the Giants' intervention during the A's saga in getting a new stadium in the area, and more, both of these teams have legitimate beefs with each other.

Athletics Nation: Game Thread #120: Athletics at Giants

    MLB

As September looms closer and the pennant chases ramp up, the A's have a set of important matchups in the bay. Today marks the start of the yearly Bay Bridge Series between the A's and Giants, with this two game set in San Francisco. Last year the Athletics took the series 4-2, and look to hold on to The Bridge trophy this year.

Starting for the Giants today is Madison Bumgarner. While not having as strong of a year as he was known for during the Giants' dominant years, Bum has had flashes of brilliance, including his last start which was 7 innings of one-hit baseball against the Phillies.
