Last night actually burned a lot of people because everyone pounded the run line. I kind of get it because who wants to take a team -340 or whatever they ended up closing at. But there is a big difference between Gallen and Alcantara. Gallen at least is a top prospect who's show some real upside this year and I'm not too shocked he did well. I think this is the smash spot if you want to add a big favorite to a parlay and I wouldn't be opposed to the run line tonight because I really think we see a 10-1 ass kicking today

My Pick: Los Angeles -291 50%

Dodger Blue: Dodgers News: Hyun-Jin Ryu Felt Command In Start Against Marlins Was 'Worst' Of 2019 Season

    MLB

The combination of Hyun-Jin Ryu pitching at Dodger Stadium has proven to be a winning combination this season, and while that continued Friday night, it wasn't easy for the southpaw and Los Angeles Dodgers against the lowly Miami Marlins.

Ryu uncharacteristically issued a pair of walks in the second inning, and it allowed the Marlins to load the bases as they were sandwiched around a single. Fortune was on Ryu's side, however, as rookie starter Zac Gallen failed to help his cause.

Ryu finished with a season-high-tying three walks in seven innings. He also faced a deficit after the fourth inning, as a single and RBI double gave Miami a 1-0 lead.

Mike Scioscia's Tragic Illness: Marlins @ Dodgers July 19, 2019: It's good to be home

    MLB

It must feel good to be home for the Dodgers (64-35). They survived a brutal East Coast road trip that included three rain delays, defensive lapses, bullpen meltdowns, ejections, HBPs, and a 12-inning marathon at Fenway that had Cody Bellinger downing copious amounts of Red Bull and Advil. The one silver lining was that the Dodgers hit a bunch of home runs. They crushed 15 dongs for the four-game series in Philadelphia, tying a franchise record for a series.

Bryce Harper and Phillies closer Hector Neris reacted like they won the World Series in the series split.

Mike Scioscia's Tragic Illness: Dodgers 2, Marlins 1: Hyun-Jin Ryu's 7 strong & Starlin Castro's defense wins it for Dodgers

Eventually, the Dodgers had to count on the mistakes of the Marlins to prevail, taking a close one 2-1.

    ----

Against the worst team in the National League, this series was supposed to be a walk in the park for the Dodgers, but rookie Zac Gallen had other plans. The offense had been hot to start the second half, averaging eight runs per game on the road trip, but they managed just three hits and four walks off Gallen.

After blowing second and third with one out in the 2nd and a man on second with one out in the 4th, the Dodgers did manage to breakthrough in the 6th.

Dodger Blue: Recap: Dodgers Edge Marlins In Error-Filled Return To Dodger Stadium, Earning 65th Win Of Season

Back at Dodger Stadium after a seven-game road trip that encompassed multiple rain delays and more waiting because of mechanical issues with their chartered flight home, the Los Angeles Dodgers were slow to get going in a 2-1 win over the Miami Marlins.

As the Dodgers spun their wheels and failed to come up with timely hits, Hyun-Jin Ryu pushed through a difficult start -- by his standards. The Dodgers didn't exactly aid matters by committing two errors in a sixth consecutive game.

Though, neither of those ultimately came back to haunt them. After Joc Pederson booted a ground ball hit to his right, Ryu induced an inning-ending double play in the first.
