Philadelphia is in the middle of turning the corner and playing great ball. Eflin has concerned me through the season with his issues with consistency. he doesn't have to be great today but he does need to be good or at least our expectation for average from him. Philly today.

    My Pick: Philadelphia +116 & Under 10.5

talk about a let down yesterday, everyone and their dog had the over and they didn't come close. Pittsburgh isn't a hitting friendly park and we need to remember that because I actaully like Joe Musgrove and think he's going to be a good pitching (he's already a pretty decent pitcher) option for a few years. He does a great job limiting contact and this philies team just hasn't had the pop people expected. Eflin has extreme splits with lefties but this pirates team doesn't have any lefties that make an impact outside of bell. I'm going to ride the under in this game because both pitchers limit walks and don't really give up the long ball and giving the park I think that will be the case again.

    My Pick: Under 10.5

3 main factors for me. The Phillies are 6-1 in their last 7 games against the Pirates, 7-3 in their last 10 games against a team with a losing record, and 7-3 in their last 10 games against the NL Central. Phillies is the play here

    My Pick: Philadelphia +116

  • I like the Phillies at plus odds if you can get it. The Pirates are falling off a cliff right now, losing six out of their last seven games, while their bats have gone cold as they have only scored 18 runs in that six-game span. This looks like a good opportunity for Eflin to get back on track. Plus I like the way the Phillies have been playing as of late winning three out of their last four games which included two wins against the first-place Dodgers, and a 6-1 win last night.

    My Pick: Philadelphia +118 70%

Bucs Dugout: Series Preview: Phillies at Pirates

    MLB

The Pirates look to take control of the season when the cross state rival Philadelphia Phillies comes to PNC Park for a three game series. The road trip has not been good to Pittsburgh since the all-star break where the Pirates went 1-5 vs division rivals Cubs and Cardinals.

The Phillies walk into PNC Park Friday night after a lackluster showing at home where they posted a 3-4 record against the Nationals and Dodgers. The Phillies beat the Dodgers yesterday afternoon while the Pirates had an of day to focus on the upcoming series.

Fansided: Pittsburgh Pirates Struggles Continue In Loss Against The Phillies

Friday night at PNC Park the Pittsburgh Pirates and their cross-state foes the Philadelphia Phillies kicked off a three-game weekend set. Both teams sent struggling starting pitchers to the mound on Friday, which could have led people to believe Friday's game would be filled with offensive fireworks. However, this was not the case as both starters turned in strong bounce back outings.
