I'll take them again today against a team with a terrible bullpen and a starter who has given up 4 ER and 6 ERs in 2 starts. SF bats are hot. Samardzija has been hot in July with a sub 1.5 ERA.
    On June 29th the @SFGiants were 12 games below .500.16 games later, they are 49-49. pic.twitter.com/n3EmITVoVP— MLB Stats (@MLBStats) July 20, 2019

  • I like the Shark Samardzija at home to keep things rolling.
Giants starter Jeff Samardzija is locked in right now with a 1.66 ERA in his three starts this month spanning across 21.2 innings. Also, I expect the Giants hot offense to get to rookie starter Walker Lockett who has not looked good at all in his limited role.

I got the Giants today but leaving that o/u alone with Lockett on the mound today. Neither team is hitting particularly well in this series but could have a burst of runs both are due.

The Giants have been on fire lately and have already won the first two games of this series. The Giants also have the significantly better starting pitcher for this matchup and I can see Samardzija shutting down the 21st ranked Mets offense in this one. Break out the broom, I think it's a sweep.

Samardzija had a rocky first half of the season but has been nails in his last three starts over which he's lowered his season ERA from 4.52 to 3.93. Over that span, he has a 1.66 ERA with 17 strikeouts and three walks. I'll flip the odds and take a shot with the San Fran on the RL (+130) here today.

    My Pick: San Francisco -142

CBS: Giants Win 7th Straight Thanks To Botched Play By Mets

    MLB

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- The way the pitchers on both teams were dealing, it figured that it might take a miscue in the field for either team to score.

A botched fly ball between New York Mets left fielder Dominic Smith and shortstop Amed Rosario did the trick for the San Francisco Giants for a second straight season.

Alex Dickerson raced home from first after Smith failed to catch a two-out popup in the 10th inning that he tentatively played to avoid a collision with Rosario and the Giants won their season-high seventh straight game, 1-0 on Friday night.

San Jose Mercury News: Giants win streak hits seven with wild walk-off after Mets drop a can of corn

    MLB

SAN FRANCISCO -- It was not as unexpected or shocking as Chris Heston's no-hitter against the Mets in 2015.

It was not as historically significant as Madison Bumgarner's dazzling shutout of the Mets in the 2016 National League Wild Card game.

The best start of Tyler Beede's career didn't even end with Beede earning credit for a win, but it showed why the Giants consider themselves a serious threat in the race for a postseason berth.

San Francisco improved to .500 for the first time since Opening Day with a wild walk-off win in the bottom of the 10th inning.

McCovey Chronicles: Beede out-duels deGrom as Giants walk it off again, winning 1-0 over Mets

    MLB

The Giants beat the Mets Friday night, 1-0, in another extra innings pitching duel. This time, between Tyler Beede and Jacob deGrom, who made Thursday night's 16-inning standoff look like a high scoring affair. The game ended because of a defensive error in the tenth that allowed the hero of this Giants' recent run of success. Alex Dickerson, to score from first after walking to start the inning.

deGrom, the reigning Cy Young Award winner, pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing only three hits and three walks and striking out 10, for his sixth double-digit strikeout game of the season.

Amazin' Avenue: Final Score: Giants 1, Mets 0--Fee, Fi, Fo, Fum, I Smell the Outfield Skills of a First Baseman

    MLB

It was a quintessential 2018 Jacob deGrom start in every sense of the phrase. deGrom was brilliant over seven scoreless innings, striking out ten Giants. But the Mets couldn't get him any run support, managing just three hits off Tyler Beede, who tossed eight scoreless innings for the Giants.

After that, it was a battle of two overworked bullpens, as the game went to extra innings for the second straight night. Luis Avilan and Will Smith each pitched a scoreless inning in the eighth and ninth, respectively.
