The wind is howling out to center today but we have two pitchers that are just a littel above average. The Padres are loaded with right handed bats and the ideal fantasy stratagy is to load up on them but I have feeling we see a let down game. I want to take the under but I have issues with Lucchesi and don't really buy into the guy. if he gets rattled early it's over because he does a bad job staying composed in moments so pressure. I'm hoping the cubs get to him early and it justgoes down hill from there and i'm on the cubs

    My Pick: Chicago -136

  • Keep a look out for the wind conditions. Likely to take a toll on some of these fly balls that got hit after what we saw yesterday.

Cubs on a 3 game win streak and at home. They barely got one by last night but it will be the same today with Quintana on the mound. Both pitchers should be game but the Cubs bats are averaging 5 runs a game in their last 5 while the Padres are at about 3 runs average over the same period.

    My Pick: Chicago -139 & Under 12 70%

The Cubs are the better offensive team but this pitching matchup is a coin toss..I think Lucchesi does enough here to keep this one close and gives the Padres a chance to steal this game. Give me the plus money.

Chicago Sun-Times: Cubs beat the heat and Padres at Wrigley Field

Even the heat and sloppy play couldn't beat the Cubs on Friday -- never mind the Padres.

It was a blistering 92 degrees at Wrigley Field at first pitch, and the temperature and humidity only seemed to intensify as the game played on.

"It was miserable," pitcher Jon Lester said after the Cubs' 6-5 win against the Padres.

As a result, both teams made their fair share of silly mistakes on defense.

All-Star shortstop Javy Baez specifically had an off day in the field. Along with uncharacteristically hesitating twice while throwing to first base, Baez recorded an error in the eighth inning when he overthrew reliever Pedro Stop after making a routine catch.

Obstructed View: Cubs 6, Padres 5

    MLB

OSS: Cubs pen tries to give one away, Padres defense gives it right back.

    Three up:

Anthony Rizzo hit a grand slam in the third inning to give the Cubs a 4-3 lead, which was obviously the biggest hit of the day. I was surprised to hear on the broadcast that it was his first homer in over a month. The lack of HR power hadn't hurt his numbers though, as he had a .431 wOBA in July going into this game. With that home run the Cubs now have four players with 20+ home runs, and Contreras is currently sitting on 19.
