Astros manager: Angels got 'free shot' on Jake Marisnick hit by pitchLos Angeles Angels pitcher Noe Ramirez says he accidentally hit Jake Marisnick with a pitch, but Houston Astros manager A.J. Hinch isn't buying it. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/astros/2019/07/17/jake-marisnick-aj-hinch-hit-by-pitch-astros-angels/1753338001/

  • Cole was touched up against Texas but he has been terrific lately, going 5-0 with a 2.21 ERA in his last nine starts. Pena is has been solid in his own right, he's now 7-2 on the season the right-hander is coming off an unforgettable outing against the Mariners, throwing seven no-hit innings to complete a combined no-hitter. Houston deserves to be favored here but the at +170 odds the betting value is with LA here tonight, but the smarter bet is probably the UNDER 9 in what should be a low scoring game.

    My Pick: Under 9

Pena is making his return since the team pitched the no hitter in their first game back to LA to honor Skaggs. I don't think that is going to happen today and that was a complete outlier for pena and the angels. I think we get reminded that Felix Pena is who we thought he was and the Astros tear him a new one. They are finally full strenth with the excetption of correa but I don't think that's going to matter. Cole is the leader for the cy young right now and he's just been a monster and I think we seem him dominate again today

    My Pick: Houston -180

Fansided: LA Angels stand up for their own in beating Houston

The LA Angels have been dealing with a lot of things lately and they are coming together as one to push through the tough times. On the Sunday before the All-Star Break the Angels lost a brutal game against the Houston Astros blowing two different leads and losing in 10 innings.

That wasn't the full story though, as Houston outfielder Jake Marisnick steamrolled Angels catcher Jonathan Lucroy, knocking him out cold. Marisnick's football-like almost tackle of Lucroy broke the catcher's nose and gave him a concussion. Lucroy is scheduled to miss up to three weeks with the injuries he sustained in the collision.

Halos Heaven: Angels seem to(?) retaliate against Marisnick and Astros in 7-2 win

    MLB

The story of the game appeared to materialize in the very first inning as the Angels faced off against opener Hector Rondon early on Tuesday evening. In the bottom side of the beginning frame, batter after batter continued to reach base as the Angels eventually batted around and dropped a 6-spot on the fearsome Astros. We will come back to this because more pressing matters took place later on in the game.

Going into the 6th inning, Marisnick had already received quite a bit of hate from the Angels faithful. I don't normally think much of booing, but it was actually quite nice to see the stands so invested in the game considering the run disparity.
