I really like the Tigers young guy Spencer Turnbull this year. We note that he has pitched well against the Royals in his two career starts against them, both of which came this season in which the Tigers won. He has good stuff and has shown that he can be consistent in the zone and get good contact from hitters. While we look at the Royals starter the fact remains that its simply too hard to put any amount of faith in Junis at this point with his ERA still well above five at this stage of the season. The Royals are dealing with inconsistency and its hard to back a team that has gone 2-11 in their last 13 games. I like the Tigers at plus odds to get the win here.

    My Pick: Detroit +130 70%

Royals Review: Royals come from behind to pull out a 3-2 win against Detroit

    MLB

In a game whose script seemed ripped straight out of 2015, the Kansas City Royals roared back from down 2-0 against the Detroit Tigers in the seventh and eighth innings thanks to timely hitting, elite speed, and a shutdown bullpen. By the time the ninth inning closed, the Royals had won 3-2.

One of the largest problems of the 2019 Royals, the reason that it has been markedly unlike 2015, has been the rotation. Jake Junis was definitely part of the problem; before coming into today, Junis sported a 5.63 ERA and was averaging under 5.2 innings per start.

Bless You Boys: Tigers vs. Royals Preview: The race for Spencer Torkelson begins

    MLB

The 2020 MLB draft is 11 1/2 months away, but the events that take place this week could have a big impact on how next June shapes up. The Tigers and Royals, two bad teams that will kick off the College World Series festivities in Omaha, Neb. on Thursday -- presumably to get the fans excited for better baseball to come over the weekend -- still have 13 games left to play against one another in 2019. The two teams are already in position for top-five picks again in 2020, and one could take a stranglehold on such a spot were they to perform even worse against the other in those remaining matchups.
