  • Miami bats stay hot against McGowin who is simply not ready to step in. Lopez will only need to be average to walk away a winner today.

Two teams heading in opposite directions but today reality comes back a little bit. The Nationals remember how to hit today facing Lopez. McGowan will give up his share of runs as well. That over looks better and better.

    My Pick: Washington -138 & Over 9

  • Miami is red-hots (yes, I said it!) and the Nationals is ice-cold. The Nationals bullpen is a dumpster fire and the Marlins has the worst bullpen in baseball. Lopez is going to be very good and should have a good game against the lousy Nationals offense. Love the plus money today.

This is a tough one but I am going with the Nats here. These teams are heading in opposite directions, but I expect the Nats to stop the bleeding just a bit with a win in this one. The Nats have lost their last five games in a row, but they are still the better team and while Miami just won three games in Detroit, they are still just 12-40 in their last 52 games on the road. The Marlins took two of three in Miami earlier in the year, but they are still just 8-22 the last 30 games in this series and we also note that Miami is 3-12 in Lopezs last 15 starts overall, plus 0-7 in his last seven starts following a Quality Start in his last appearance. The signs point that the Miami win streak ends tonight.

    My Pick: Washington -145 50%

(62% consensus). The Washington Nationals were projected to be involved in a four-team race for supremacy in the National League East, but 23 losses in their last 33 contests have pushed the club closer to the division's basement. The host Nationals look to snap a season-high five-game losing skid on Friday when they open a four-game series versus the last-place Miami Marlins, who have won six in a row... http://bit.ly/2J4p58z

CBS Miami: Marlins Fail To Keep Win Streak Alive, Lose 10-12 To Nationals

WASHINGTON (CBSMiami/AP) -- The Miami Marlins league leading win streak ended Friday night, after a 10-12 loss to the Washington Nationals.

Juan Soto and Matt Adams hit back-to-back home runs in the eighth inning and the Washington Nationals snapped their five-game losing streak.

Soto's three-run blast off Marlins reliever Tayron Guerrero was his eighth homer of the season and put the Nationals ahead for the first time at 11-9. Adams provided insurance with his fourth homer of the season, and 100th of his career.

Adam Eaton and Anthony Rendon drew one-out walks off Nick Anderson (1-2) before Soto's homer.
