Milone getting his first start and he has been a mixed bag this year so hard to know what to expect from him. I think these are favorable odds for the hotter Rangers tonight with Lynn on the hill.

    My Pick: Texas -125 50%

U.S.S. Mariner: Game 51, Mariners at Rangers

Are you ready for the Tommy Milone era of Mariners baseball? The M's made a flurry of transactions today, including sending Dee Gordon and Ryon Healy to the IL, optioning Parker Markel to AAA and selecting the contract of Tommy Milone. Milone signed a minor league deal this year, and has pitched pretty well in the inflated offense of the PCL thus far. And with 130 big league starts under his belt, the M's probably feel he's a known commodity after the rude introductions suffered by Erik Swanson and Justus Sheffield (to say nothing of Markel).

    He also fits right in.

The Seattle Times: Veteran lefty Tommy Milone will start Tuesday for the Mariners in Texas

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Tommy Milone joined the rest of the Mariners pitchers for Monday's pregame throwing session at Globe Life Park in preparation to start on Tuesday vs. the Rangers.

Manager Scott Servais confirmed that the veteran lefty will take the scheduled start for Felix Hernandez, who is currently on the injured list and back in Seattle rehabbing a lat strain.

"When we brought Tommy into the organization over the winter, we saw him as a stabilizer as a rotation guy and if he's in the bullpen, he can pitch multiple innings," Servais said. "He's thrown the ball pretty well.

The Seattle Times: Mariners rally within run of Rangers, but can't overcome massive early deficit

    BOX SCORE

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Given the nature of the start, it seemed like Monday would offer another one of those lopsided, position-player pitches, empty-the-bullpen kind of blowouts that the Mariners have been wearing far too many times over the past few weeks.

That early indication didn't quite become the increasingly familiar outcome, but the Mariners gave up one too many runs to have a chance at an improbable comeback victory in a 10-9 loss to the Rangers.

Tim Beckham's first career grand slam in eighth inning off Shelby Miller, and Daniel Vogelbach's two-run homer in the ninth made the final tally close.
