    NEW ORLEANS - Returning to a 20-game Sun Belt Conference schedule for the first time in four years, the Sun Belt Conference released the 2019-20 men's basketball schedule on Tuesday.

    Louisiana, which finished 19-13 overall last season and 10-8 in Sun Belt action, will face nine league opponents in home-and-home contests with single dates against league rivals Appalachian State (Jan. 6) and Coastal Carolina (March 3).

    The Ragin' Cajuns will open their league schedule on the road on Dec. 18 against Arkansas State before opening its SBC home slate against Little Rock on Dec.

    LAFAYETTE - Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball alum JaKeenan Gant took another step towards the National Basketball Association on Friday when he inked a free-agent deal with the Indiana Pacers.

    Gant, who played at Louisiana from 2017-19, earned a slew of honors during his Ragin' Cajuns career that included being a two-time Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Year, plus the Lefty Driesell Defensive All-America Team and named to the Lou Henson Award Watch List.

    The Springfield, Ga., native participated in the Portsmouth Invitational in April and worked out for seven NBA teams before signing with the Pacers, who finished 48-34 last season and was the No.

    LAFAYETTE - Season ticket renewals for Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Men's Basketball are currently underway for the 2019-20 season.

    Season ticket prices have been set for the 2019-20 season with seats beginning at $100. Fans who were season ticket holders last season may renew their seat locations online at RaginCajuns.com using Account Manager, or by calling the Louisiana Athletics Ticket Office at (337) 265-2170. The season ticket renewal deadline is Friday, July 12.

    LAFAYETTE - Louisiana men's basketball coach Bob Marlin brought back a familiar face to both the Ragin' Cajuns and Sun Belt Conference as he announced on Tuesday the addition of Brock Morris as an assistant coach.

    The hiring of Morris, who previously served as the Ragin' Cajuns Director of Basketball Operations from 2010-13, is subject to approval from the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors.

    Morris, a native of Albertville, Ala., spent the 2018-19 season as head coach at Daytona State (Fla.

    MONROE, La. - Trailing 8-6 heading into the ninth inning, Louisiana Baseball put together a monster rally, scoring seven runs across the ninth and tenth frames to steal the second game of the series from ULM, 13-9, on Friday night.

    Needing a bit of ninth-inning magic, Hunter Kasuls and Orynn Veillon delivered pivotal solo home runs to force extra innings. When the 10th rolled around, the Ragin' Cajuns lit up the scoreboard with five runs to clinch the victory.

    For the second-straight evening, the long ball proved to be effective as Louisiana hit four on the night, bringing its weekend total up to seven.

    SAN MARCOS, Texas - The tandem of Alissa Dalton and Summer Ellyson guided No. 7 Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Softball to another win at the 2019 Sun Belt Conference Tournament on Saturday, this time helping secure a trophy to bring home.

    Dalton's two-out RBI single in the first inning provided all the offense needed as Ellyson fired a two-hit shutout in a 1-0 win over Coastal Carolina in the tournament's championship game.

    Louisiana (50-4), the regular season champions after an undefeated run in conference play, captured its 15th SBC Tournament championship in the 20-year history of the event.

    LAFAYETTE - No. 7 Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Softball received its assignment for the program's 21st consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament on Sunday when it was revealed during the Softball Selection Show that the squad was placed into the NCAA Oxford Regional at the Ole Miss Softball Complex in Oxford, Miss.

    The Sun Belt Conference regular season and tournament champions were awarded the league's automatic bid into collegiate softball's premier postseason event, which was secured with the win over Coastal Carolina in Saturday's conference tournament championship game in San Marcos, Texas.

    It's the 29th appearance overall, all coming in the past 30 years, for the nationally recognized program.

    SAN MARCOS, Texas - Another fourth inning rally lifted No. 7 Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Softball to a win at the 2019 Sun Belt Conference Tournament, a 5-2 decision over Coastal Carolina which clinched a spot in the championship game.

    Alissa Dalton was Friday's hero as her two-out, two-run single pulled Louisiana (49-4) ahead to stay at 3-2. A solo home run from Sarah Hudek and run scored off a wild pitch by Keeli Milligan added insurance in the fifth inning.

    Summer Ellyson made the rally stand as she went on to complete a string of six consecutive scoreless innings pitched after the Chanticleers (38-20) grabbed an early lead with a two-run home run in the first inning.

    SAN MARCOS, Texas - Inclement weather has altered the schedule for 2019 Sun Belt Conference Tournament and changed the time for the next game for No. 7 Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Softball.

    The winner's bracket final vs. Coastal Carolina on Friday will now begin at 12:30 p.m. The Ragin' Cajuns (48-4) and Chanticleers (38-19) are playing for a spot in Saturday's 1 p.m. championship game.

    The game can be viewed on ESPN+, heard in the Acadiana region on ESPN 1420-AM and available worldwide on the ESPN 1420 app.

    LAFAYETTE - Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball coach Bob Marlin announced on Friday that DouDou Gueye (pronounced DOO-DOO GUY-ay) signed a National Letter-of-Intent to play for the Ragin' Cajuns beginning in the 2019-20 season.

    Gueye, a 6-foot-9, 220-pound forward, will have two years of eligibility remaining after playing last season at Daytona State (Fla.) College and in Japan as a freshman in 2017-18.

    In his lone season at DSC, Gueye averaged 11 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game where he was a first-team All Mid-Florida Conference selection. The native of Dakar, Senegal, shot 50 percent from the floor and 38 percent from behind the 3-point line while scoring in double figures in 20 games during the season.

    SAN MARCOS, Texas - Faced with a deficit at the midway point of the game, No. 7 Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Softball answered the call with a three-run fourth inning which led to a 4-3 win over Texas State in the 2019 Sun Belt Conference Tournament.

    Trailing 2-1 after a wild pitch provided the Bobcats with the lead in the top half of the fourth, Raina O'Neal drilled a double deep into the left field corner to trigger the uprising for Louisiana (48-4).

    O'Neal scored the tying run on a passed ball, then Lexie Comeaux delivered an RBI double and Kourtney Gremillion followed with an RBI single as the Ragin' Cajuns forged ahead 4-2 before an out was recorded.

    LAFAYETTE - A week after taking two of three games at Coastal Carolina, the Louisiana Baseball team will play at Russo Park for the final time this season when it welcomes Georgia State for a three-game series. Game times are set for 6:30 p.m., on Friday, 4 p.m., on Saturday and 11 a.m. on Sunday.

    It is another important weekend for the Ragin' Cajuns, who need to finish strong down the stretch to secure a spot in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament in Conway, South Carolina. The top 10 teams in the league standings are eligible for postseason play.
