    MIAMI (June 19, 2019) - Next up in our Q&A series with FIU football is Tony Gaiter IV. The Panther capped his junior season off with a career-best performance in the Bahamas Bowl to help FIU down Toledo, 35-32.

    A native of Richmond Heights, Florida, Gaiter has become a reliable receiver in the FIU offense and looks to be a steady target for James Morgan in the fall. Gaiter played in 13 games last season, making five starts at wideout. The receiver hauled in 24 catches for 227 yards, while finding the end zone twice on the year.

    MIAMI (June 14, 2019) - FIU football earned 12 selections to Phil Steele's 2019 Preseason All-CUSA teams, with the quartet of D'Antne Demery, Teair Tart, Sage Lewis and Maurice Alexander all earning first team laurels from the publication this week.

    Demery played and started in 11 games last season at left tackle, leading an offensive line that allowed a school-record low eight sacks on the year. The total ranked first in the league and third overall in the country. Demery was awarded All-CUSA Honorable Mention for his efforts last season.

    MIAMI (June 12, 2019) - Next up in our Q&A series with FIU football is Daniel Jackson. The Panther is coming off another great season at FIU, after playing in all 13 games this season.

    A native of Apex, North Carolina, Jackson recorded seven tackles on the season as a sophomore, including five solo tackles and two unassisted. His contributions in the secondary helped FIU rank fourth overall in Conference USA for passing defense and sixth in the league for pass defense efficiency. Jackson was an important component on an FIU defense that recorded 17 total interceptions, which ranked second in Conference USA and 11th overall in the nation.

    DALLAS (June 11, 2019) - Former FIU men's basketball player, Elhadji Dieng (Mbour, Senegal) has been named by Conference USA as one of 14 recipients for the prestigious Jim Castaneda Postgraduate Scholarship, the league announced.

    In his two years with the Panthers, Dieng played in 55 games, tallying a .471 field goal percentage. This past season, Dieng averaged 2.2 points and 2.4 rebounds-per-game. He recorded a career-high 11 points in his final collegiate game, in the Blue & Gold, in the second round of the Collegeinsider.

  • Official Site of FIU: Rains Earns Second-Team All-American Honors at NCAA Championships

    AUSTIN (June 8, 2019) - Gabrielle Rains earned Second-Team All-American honors in her first appearance at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, taking 13th in the discus throw Saturday evening in Austin, while Clarissa Cutliff's decorated career as an FIU Panther came to a conclusion in the high jump.

    Rains, a junior, threw 54.43m in the discus, the second best mark of her career. In qualifying for nationals, Rains threw her personal best of 56.90m at the NCAA East Preliminaries.

    The second-team honors cap a season that began with injury for Rains, rendering her unable to compete the entire indoor season.

    MIAMI (June 5, 2019) - Next up in our Q&A series with FIU football is kicker Jose Borregales. The Panther is coming off another great season at FIU, after earning a spot on the Conference USA Honorable Mention Team for his efforts on special teams.

    A Miami native, Borregales has served as FIU's clutch kicker the past two seasons. The rising sophomore made 14 field goals this past season and broke the school-record for most PATs made in a single-season, after making 54. Borregales also booted a school-record 53-yard field goal in a pivotal conference win over Middle Tennessee.
