  • BC Interruption: Five Big Questions for the 2019 Boston College Football Season

While it's no secret that AJ Dillon is BC's best player on offense, junior quarterback Anthony Brown will be the most important player this season. If Brown can keep opposing defenses honest with an effective passing game, Dillon will have a lot more room to mount a dark horse Heisman campaign.

Overall, Brown was solid in his first two seasons as an Eagle. At times, such as last year's 305 yard, 5 TD, 0 INT performance at Wake Forest, he looked like a top tier quarterback, capable of taking command of the game.

  • BC Interruption: Boston College Football Announces Future Games With Army, Holy Cross, UConn

The Boston College football program announced a couple nice future non-conference match-ups this afternoon with the Army Black Knights and Holy Cross Crusaders getting added to upcoming schedules. The Eagles also announced a home-and-home with the UConn Huskies as well.

Boston College will take on Army in 2023 and 2028, with the Eagles traveling to Michie Stadium -- one of the northeast's absolute best college football road trips -- in 2023. The Black Knights have had a few really nice years under head coach Jeff Monken, even finding themselves ranked in the AP poll last year (as high as #19) for the first time since the mid '90s.

  • Official Site of the Eagles: The ACC Network Era Set to Begin

Few football seasons are more iconic than Boston College's 1984 campaign. Doug Flutie's Heisman Trophy provided the overscoring tune to the Eagles' 10-2 record and Cotton Bowl Classic win over Houston. BC became a top five team that year, and the game against Miami remains arguably the greatest college football game ever played. It was a season so memorable that it's still a hot topic, even though the "Flutie Effect" is now over 30 years old.

It's impossible to imagine a Heisman Trophy candidate or national championship-caliber team not earning national spotlight and television, but in 1984, that was the state of college athletics.

Carlson remains the Eagles punter after stepping in to the starter role a year ago. He has had a strong camp; coming off a 2018 campaign in which he averaged 40.2 yards per punt and knocked 25 of his 69 punts inside the 20-yard line. Boumerhi, a transfer from Temple, is the front-runner to win the starting kicker job. He played in 24 games over the last three seasons before an early injury derailed his 2018 season. With the Owls, Boumerhi hit 31 of 43 (72%) career field goal attempts, including a career-best 52-yard make in 2017.

  • BC Interruption: A Peek at Pooka: BC vs Kansas Previewed

On Friday, September 13th, Alumni Stadium will host the Jayhawks of Kansas University in the first ever matchup between the two schools.

    What the Eagle's will face:

When college football fans think of the Big 12, they think of prolific highs scoring aerial attacks offenses and laughable defenses. That is not the story with the Jayhawks.

Far from prolific, the Jayhawks finished second to last in the Big 12 in both passing offense and total offense. Conversely, they finished sixth in the conference in rushing. Thus, it is not surprising that Kansas's standout player is their sophomore running back Pooka Williams Jr.

  • BC Interruption: BC-Richmond Football Preview

On November 30th, BC will take on Richmond. The classic battle between the Eagle and the Spider. BC last beat Richmond in OT in December of 2017, narrowly avoiding an upset 78-73. Hopefully, Jim Christian and co. will be able to take care of business easier this time around.

In football news, the second game of the season will see BC and Richmond battle it out at Alumni Stadium on Saturday, September 7th at 3:30pm (hmm unclear whether this will allow for the new, extended fourth hour of tailgating since this is barely after 3 but my guess is it will not).
