ESPN.com: Assistant: Miller paid 10K per month to Ayton
NEW YORK -- Federal prosecutors on Wednesday played a recording to the jury of a phone call intercepted by wiretaps, in which former Arizona assistant Emanuel "Book" Richardson told aspiring agent Christian Dawkins that Wildcats coach Sean Miller was paying star center Deandre Ayton $10,000 per month while he was enrolled there.
Prosecutors played the call, which was intercepted by wiretaps on June 20, 2017, to the jury near the end of its case.
Dawkins and Richardson we're discussing how to recruit Ayton as a client to Dawkins' fledgling sports management company.
While talking about Ayton, Richardson told Dawkins, "Sean's got to get the (expletive) out the way and let us work.

Cleveland, Ohio - Charlotte 49ers iconic Director of Athletics Judy Rose, a trailblazer in her field who helped elevate the 49ers to great heights during her longtime career, will be one of eight AD's inducted into the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) at NACDA's 54th Annual Convention at the World Center Marriott Resort in Orlando, Fla., June 12.
Rose joins fellow inductees Bob Bonn, Carthage College; Peg Bradley-Doppes, University of Denver; Don DiJulia, Saint Joseph's University; Gene Doris, Fairfield University; Jim Forkum, Santa Rosa Junior College; Jack McDonald, Quinnipiac University and Bruce Parker, Rocky Mountain College.

Nate Davis's NFL dreams are coming true.
The Charlotte 49ers' four-year starter was taken in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans. Davis was the 82nd pick, overall.
Davis (Ashburn, Va./Stone Bridge H.S.), a 6-3 offensive lineman, becomes the second 49er to be selected in the NFL Draft in the past three years. Cleveland Browns starting defensive lineman Larry Ogunjobi was a third-round choice (65th pick) in 2017. The two were teammates in 2014 (Davis' red-shirt season), 2015 and 2016.
Davis made 37 starts over his 41-game career with the 49ers.
Niner Times: Charlotte sports aren't over after finals
For most, final exams will begin Thursday, May 2 and end Thursday, May 9. A lot of students tend to pack up and go home after they've wrapped up their finals, but why leave so soon? There's a multitude of sporting events scheduled on campus that students can attend after finals.
Charlotte's baseball team will be playing the Charleston Southern Buccaneers Tuesday, May 14 at Hayes Stadium, and they'll end the regular season at home by playing a three game series against Conference USA foes the UTSA Roadrunners starting Thursday, May 16 and ending Saturday, May 18. The team is currently 14-24-1, so the last remaining games could have a significant impact on their standing in the Conference USA Tournament, which starts on Wednesday, May 22 at MGM Park in Biloxi, Mississippi.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Charlotte baseball Head Coach Loren Hibbs, in his 27th season with the 49ers, was recently selected to the NCAA Selection Committee representing the south region. Hibbs was nominated by Conference USA and approved by the NCAA.
"What a great honor it is to be chosen for the South Region NCAA Selection Committee," remarked Hibbs. "We play in a very good league and our non-conference schedule is always one of the best in the country. I look forward to working with Chris Del Conte and the other members of the committee."
Hibbs participated in the first conference call of the season on Monday, April 15th with Del Conte, Athletic Director at Texas, as the chair.

Charlotte, N.C. -- Charlotte 49ers standout guard Jon Davis is among 64 of the nation's top seniors participating in the prestigious Portsmouth Invitational Tournament (PIT) in Portsmouth, Virginia, April 17-20.
Established in 1953, the PIT is a four-day, 12-game tournament played in front of representatives from every NBA team.
A couple weeks ago, Davis was named second-team National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District for the second time in his career.
A month ago, Davis earned All-Conference USA honors for the third time in his career. He was voted second-team All-Conference USA.

RUSTON, La. - Bethany Doty had a career day at the plate with three hits; Katie Manring and Lizzy Birch both homered again, as the Charlotte 49ers dropped the series finale 10-5 vs. Louisiana Tech at the Lady Techsters Softball Complex on Sunday.
Charlotte (11-26, 3-12) out-hit Louisiana Tech (30-9, 10-2) twelve to eight in the final game of the series, but couldn't outlast the six-run first inning put up by Tech.
Louisiana Tech plated six runs in the first inning on three hits and a walk, highlighted by a grand slam from Lindsay Edwards.

RUSTON, La. - Katie Manring and Lizzy Birch both homered, while Maggie Cannon shut Louisiana Tech's offense down in game two, but the 49ers fell victim on Saturday in both games. La Tech took game one 10-3 and game two 5-2.
Louisiana Tech (28-9, 8-2) plated three runs in the bottom of the third to take a 3-0 lead on two hits and an error.
Later, in the fifth, the Lady Techsters collected another three-run inning, which started with a solo home run from Morgan Turkoly.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers (11-23, 3-9) will travel to Ruston, La., to face the Lady Techsters of Louisiana Tech (27-7, 7-2), April 6 - 7. Saturday will feature a doubleheader at 3pm & 5pm EST, while Sunday is the series finale at 1pm EST.
The 49ers look to get back on track, having dropped two-straight - the series finale, 7-4 to C-USA foe Middle Tennessee and a midweek setback at No. 17 South Carolina, falling 7-0 in Columbia.
Charlotte currently has a team batting average of .291, which is good for fourth-overall in the league.

ROCK HILL, S.C. -- A pair of three-set rallies in singles play provided Charlotte with enough points to garner its first win over Winthrop since 2006 and the 49ers won their fifth-in-a-row Thursday afternoon, 4-3, at the Rock Hill Tennis Center.
Senior mounted a big comeback against her opponent to put the Niners within a point of clinching the team triumph. She overcame a first-set setback to defeat the Eagles' Rafaela Santos in the No. 4 clash 1-6, 6-4, 6-3 to set the stage for junior comeback on an adjacent court.
With two matches left to finish, Imparato locked up another three-set decision for her team.

Charlotte, N.C. -- Charlotte 49ers freshman guard Cooper Robb was named a Strength and Conditioning All-American by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
Strength and Conditioning All-American honors are awarded to individuals based on nominations by their strength and conditioning coach. It is typically awarded to student-athletes who go above and beyond in the strength and conditioning realm of their sport. Robb is one of only 37 college basketball players (men's and women's) over all divisions awarded this honor.
"Cooper exemplifies an individual who works hard off the court to improve his game," said Blake Bender, the Charlotte 49ers men's basketball program's director of sports performance.
Niner Times: The Tournament comes to town
While the Charlotte 49ers women's basketball team ended their postseason run after two games in the Conference USA tournament and one game in the WNIT, there were still women's basketball teams playing in Halton Arena on Friday, March 22 and Sunday, March 24.
The Niners were granted their first WNIT bid since the 2015-16 season in which they also lost in the first round, by only three points to Wake Forest and finished with an overall record of 19-12. This season, Charlotte ended with an 18-13 overall record.
Nevertheless, several games of the first and second rounds of the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Tournament would be played inside Halton Arena.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Charlotte women's tennis continued to make waves on the courts this spring, as it picked up a 5-2 victory at Middle Tennessee Saturday afternoon after taking the doubles point and grinding out the win in several tough singles contests.
The triumph, the program's third-in-a-row, improves the 49ers' record to 11-6 overall and 2-2 in Conference USA action. The last time Charlotte posted multiple regular-season league wins was in 2011, during the program's tenure in the Atlantic 10, and the last time in Conference USA was during the inaugural stint in the league, in 2004.

Kansas City, Mo. -- Charlotte 49ers senior guard Jon Davis was named second-team National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District.
Davis, who was an NABC All-District selection in 2017, joins Chad Kinch (1979, 1980), Henry Williams (1990, 1991 and 1992), Jarvis Lang (1994, 1995) and DeMarco Johnson (1996, 1997 and 1998) as Niners that have been named to multiple All-District teams.
A few weeks ago, Davis earned All-Conference USA honors for the third time in his career. He was voted second-team All-Conference USA. He earned second-team All-Conference USA honors in 2017 as well and he was named to the Conference USA All-Freshman team in 2016.
